I thought their Bolt proto look pretty similar too, the Volt hatchback. The corner rear window and back side pillar make for interesting blind spots
The cruise has a smooshed wagon feel to it, more like the fiesta and escort hatchbacks

I haven't been a fan of their tiny compressed cars but you can only say so much when you live in a Chevy family lol. The bolt is suppose to run like what I believe over 300 miles on a charge. Crazy. I hear people fuss about those stupid testlas when the bolt will perform just as well and actually be affordable. The company has really been stepping it up! :D

I like the cruise wagon. I would consider getting that. One of the biggest things that held me back from the Sonic Hatchback was the size of it

I'm not too much of a fan of the size either. The sonic isn't too appealing in my perpesctive.

I don't put much faith in little Chevy's. Ford isn't much better. They seem to think buyers of small cars are trying to get by on the cheap, and build their cars to match. My brother had a Vega. I had an 80 Citation. A friend had a Pinto. Cured me from buying any compact car from Detroit.
I have owned a Beetle, two SAABs, a Mazda pickup (a 92 and I still have it), a Geo Metro, a 2000 Civic (still have it) and my Toyota Vibe/Pontiac Matrix.

You do realize the Vibe is NOT a GM car, don't you?

The only part that isn't Toyota is the OnStar button.

and not to rub salt in the obvious but i don't think any of the gm compacts are built here, and most are based on foreign platforms/parts

And the entire HVAC system, and the wiring harness for the stereo, and that stupid passenger airbag indicator that no one cares about. I think Pontiac actually designed the interior, and of course the exterior. The ECU also has a different communication apparently, mine won't talk to a Toyota scanner, even though it is Toyota hardware.

But yeah, that's all that GM made for it. Everything else is Toyota. The GM HVAC also seems to be inferior, which is funny, because my Toyota mentor commented usually GM does A/C systems much better than Toyota.

I don't feel concerned about vehicles being built outside of the US, as long as the cat manufacturer doesn't cheap out on materials, quality control, and specifications. I have seen pretty meh vehicles get built in the US, but when someone outsources, usually they're already looking to save a buck and don't care much about quality.

EDIT: I forgot to mention the Vibe was made in the USA, like a lot of Toyota's lineup. The Toyota Tundra was designed in Sacramento, CA and is built in San Antonio, Texas. I think the new Camry is made in Kentucky or something. Somewhere in the eastern part of the US I have never been to.

lannvouivre, When I read in your post about the stupid passenger air bag indicator, I thought "What is he talking about?" Then I remembered . . . . I covered mine with a piece of black tape. It's very distracting to have what looks like a warning light glowing in the corner of your eye all the time. Doesn't bother me know.

Thanks for the he/she fix. Guess I should have used a generic noun.

I'm sure lannvouivre is used to being called a guy, man, bro, etc. on car forums much like myself. Everyone just assumes you're a guy, especially if you know what you're talking about when it comes to cars. Personally, it's really never bothered me. I'd rather have people think I'm a guy than try to hit on me just because I'm a chick .

The Cruze was never very roomy up front, for me anyways. More room in the back won't help being uncomfortable of tall drivers.

That's how it is for me, OR they doubt everything you say because you have the wrong set of gonads.

My favorite is when I can feed into someone's belief that I'm a guy, but it's hard to pull off most of the time if friends correct the person. The most fun I ever had was on a voice chat with a couple of my friends and a new guy. My friend and I kept asking him if I'm a guy? A girl? Who knows?!
