HONDA is keeping a lid on key details regarding the Accord crossover utility vehicle set to hit the market later this year, but the automaker this week released a first look at its latest model. The Torrance, Calif.-based automaker is calling its 2010 Accord Crosstour a “modern interpretation†of a crossover with the “refinement and efficiency of a premium sedan.†It’s an offshoot of the company’s flagship sedan, which underwent a redesign for its 2008 model.Spokesman Sage Marie said production hasn’t begun on the vehicle, which will go on sale at this fall. It remains unclear whether the Crosstour will be made in Central Ohio, where the bulk of Honda’s North American manufacturing operations are housed through Marysville-based Honda of America Manufacturing Inc. That detail should be disclosed in the coming weeks, Marie said.Honda also hasn’t released pricing details on the Crosstour, but said it will be at the top of the Accord family. The vehicle, Honda said, combines the ride of a sedan with the higher ride height and all-weather handling of a crossover vehicle. Much like the redesigned Accord, Honda designed the vehicle with an “aggressive†design through a roof line that narrows into the rear. The Crosstour also features a cargo area that can handle objects that wouldn’t normally fit in a sedan.Honda is telling consumers to check back on Oct. 6 at automobiles.honda.com/future-cars for more details.

This is the second Honda that I actually like the looks of.

At first glance, it's kind of ugly, like a stretched Chrysler Crossfire. At 2nd, 3rd, and 4th glance it remains unappealing to me. In fairness, it might be gorgeous in person. Personally, I don't like the new grills on the Accords.

I don't like it at all. I was very excited when I thought they were bringing the Honda Stream or the European Accord Wagon here - but then we get this. The thing looks like a suppository to me.

Supposed to compete against the Toyota Venza. Venza has more cargo room, better visibility and sharper looks. This looks like someone from Acura design walked into the Honda design room by accident and drew a new CR-V.
In a word: Hideous! When did Chris Bangle become the head of Honda design?Honda Accord design went over the edge of a cliff about 5 years ago. The 2004 Accord took on the 'bloated' look, and Hyundai became the successor to the 'Accord look' with the Sonata. The Crosstour is just further proof that Honda hasn't found their way back, and apparently don't have windows in their design studio to see what the rest of the world is doing with automotive design.EDIT And we're not the only ones who aren't thrilled... --> http://www.autoblog.com/2009/0...y-neg/And the 'official' Honda site on Facebook --> http://www.facebook.com/accordcrosstour

i think the front end is totally disconnected from the rest of the car. it looks like they spent alot of time designing from the rear forward, then ran out of money and just slapped on the front of the accord

But many will be buying them simply because it's a Honyota so they could care less. Quote, originally posted by ramenboy... »i think the front end is totally disconnected from the rest of the car.Agreed! Although I think this one also follows the sedan in that respect. Honda seems to have a policy in place where the have three exterior design teams (front, sides, rear) and lock them in separate rooms, not allowing for collaboration. I don't get it. But *sigh* they're not alone, I see plenty of this with other companies too. I guess a random smattering of incompatible lines is the in thing these days...

Better angles won't help this car:1) Honda's Pontiac Aztek2) Blind Spots that give Ray Charles 20/20 vision3) should come with a Blind Spot Indicatior System standard4) Cannot compete with the Venza, rear hatch room has to be like 1/2 of what the Venza offers, at least.5) Who is working Honda's design team nowadays?6) Should have just made a new Accord Wagon and called it the Tourer.Any company that needs to go public to defend a design because of pictures already know they have a fail.Hi, Facebook fans. We’re listening, and we want to address a few things you’ve been talking about over the past few days.1) The photos: Arguably, the two studio photos we posted didn’t give you enough detail, nor were they the best to showcase the vehicle. There are more photos on the way. Maybe it’s like a bad yearbook photo or something, and we think the new photos will clear things up. It’s not the European wagon: We’ve seen a lot of comments about the desire for a wagon, but this is neither a wagon nor designed for wagon buyers. We think the Euro wagon is a cool vehicle, too, and we appreciate the feedback… but a version of that wasn’t our intention here. That’s another segment worthy of our consideration, but the Accord Crosstour, built on the larger, Accord platform, is meant to give you the best of two worlds – the versatility of an SUV with the sportiness of a car. 2) Many of you don’t like the styling: It may not be for everyone. Our research suggests that the styling does test well among people shopping for a crossover. 3) You want further details about the Accord Crosstour: We typically can’t give you details so far out from when the vehicle goes on sale for a number of reasons, including competitive intelligence and pure availability. However… we hear your frustrations, and while specs on the vehicle aren’t finalized, we’re trying to get some stuff together that we hope will satiate some of your curiosity and give you more to think about. 4) Honda associates participating in the wall comments: We didn’t remove comments out of embarrassment. We removed comments that were posted contrary to American Honda’s consumer-generated media policy for associates: We must first clearly state that we are Honda employees and that a posting is a personal — not Honda’s — opinion. Eddie forgot to add that, so his comments were removed. Thank you for all of the interest, and we’ll be in touch again soon…
I saw those comments from the company when I was searching for spy shots...that is pretty sad.I like the spy shots better than the glamour pics they put out...but hey....I also liked the Pontiac Aztek....and I would have bought one if it wasn't such a bad car mechanically.
