Actually the Dodge Nitro is the same as the Patriot. The Liberty rides on the Patriots frame but is a larger vehicle, i.e. longer, taller, more powerful, etc.NitroPatriotLiberty

*buzzzzzz*You are incorrect, sir! Caliber=Compass, Patriot, Mitsu Lancer (base platform only on the Lancer)Nitro=LibertyThe Liberty did actually come first. The Nitro is built off of the platform originally used for the Liberty. It just got its body remodel later in life.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodge_Nitr ... ge_Caliber

Sorry Whelan, Millster is right. It looks like they changed all the sheet metal between the Nitro and the Liberty. When ever a car company does that it gets my

Now Im lost. The Nitro I thought was to be the cousin of the Patriot or vice versa. The Caliber/Compass was to appeal to womenThe Nitro/Patriot to the male segment. All that I read up on said that the Nitro was the same as the Patriot. I have seen a lot of Nitros around lately and none of them look as big as my gf's 05 Liberty. Are you sayin they made the new Liberty smaller?

So its Nitro/Liberty Compass/Caliber and the Patriot is just a sheet metaled Compass?lol, too much to remember. Either way the new Nitro is fugly, but the Liberty is sexy. They def. seem more squashed down than our Liberty, not to mention her Renegade looks like it belongs off-road

There both Horrible how can you honestly say these trucks if you can call them that are in any way an appealing vehicle my wife owned a liberty for about a year and was an ok vehicle but sucked gas like crazy and rode really rough with no room. its a shame dodge has to reach like this for new designs when they probably have one of the best design teams in the business
