My engine cover project =)

Post by ShadowSnF »

On all my cars I've painted my engine color red, just something I love doing, but because my K&N intake is metallic red I thought I'd have some fun with this project ;)
I used:
Krylon Cherry Red Paint and Primer in One (3 coats or one spray can)
Krylon Glitter Blast Cherry Bomb (1 coat)
Krylon Glitter Blast Clear Sealer (2 coats)

My next plan is to put the Metallic Silver overlay on from Grafxwerks (hopefully arriving soon), and then put it back on the car!
Hope you like it, though the pictures don't do the metal flake justice. In person it's so cool!

Thanks guys!! I wish you could see it in low light, the metal flake really pops outta the paint =) I'll try for another pic soon!

Ok!!! Here is the final product =)

And I was bored... had some red engine paint in my garage and an itty bitty brush, so I did this! (Just have to mask off and re apply the black to it due to sanding)

Looks great! Did you go with a non-gloss clearcoat? The color pretty much exactly matches the intake tube but it's not quite as shiny (which isn't a bad thing in my opinion).

The clear is actually a glossy clear, but as you stated it isn't "as" shiny lol At first I was miffed because I wanted them to be identical, but now I love the way it looks so I don't mind it being half a shade off haha

Looks good! I've always had a soft-spot for valve cover/engine cover art. Plan on doing any other engine dress-up modifications?

In fact, I don't plan on any more engine bay modifications! Unless something else strikes my fancy I feel I have completed my work. Maybe some day I will paint up the intake manifold? =)
