Transparent hood effect

Post by MrHatchWagon »

So basically, I stuck my camera on a tripod and took a picture with my hood open, and one with my hood closed. In the future, I will find a better background than my driveway and play with post-processing some more, but for the moment this is my first attempt and I like the concept. It was a lot of fun.

So here we go, hopefully this will inspire a new creative movement on GV and we can share our results and improve upon one another!

I think I need a background with more contrast, maybe make the hood a bit more transparent, and play with lighting. That should definitely make the engine pop.

I've shown you mine, now show me yours

I actually have pics with my hood open and closed taken with a tripod because I intended on doing this whole "transparent" hood look.
The pics WERE NOT taken with my Canon so i'll have to do this again. :)

nice editing though!

Thanks! I used the eraser tool at about 50% opacity, but if I do it again I might just select the whole hood with the polygonal lasso tool and bring down the opacity for that layer, we'll see. (Using Adobe Photoshop CS3). If you want some good editing software, and I think it's free, ask A Psycho Martyr. He uses Gimp or something, if I'm not mistaken, with great results.

I will definitely take that into consideration as I would like adobe CS3 for photo editing. I just need a faster computer. I think I will be looking for a new computer this weekend maybe. :)

That's awesome! My e-mail is christopherwest_7@hotmail.com, it'd be great if I could see how you played with the layers to achieve that result.

Nice work Brandon ;) And to think just the other day (more like a year or two), you were a rookie at doing this kind of stuff :P

This is cool.. Seeing how I am no editing specialist if I was to take some pics of my car with the hood open and closed and the front bumper on and off could someone hook me up. ;)

Cool, finally got a tri pod. Now just have to wait till a decent day. Plan to do the hood and the front bumper so you can do the BOV and intercooler.

I just saw this and thought I would give it a shot... Just an iphone and the app. Juxtaposer (sweet app!) took less than 10 min. I just had to make sure I stood in the same place..lol

Nice! That looks so crisp! I like how you fade the hood, it blends nicely. That is a sweet location too!
