Any manual lens users here?

Post by lowincash »

I sold my Nikon D7000 a while back and now using a Sony NEX-7 with the Zeiss 24mm 1.8 and Tamron 18-200mm lens. I've just recently bought my very first manual lens, an old Minolta 58mm f1.4 lens and using it with an adaptor on my camera. This thing is so much fun to use and makes picture taking much more satisfaction. Now I think I might be addicted to these lenses. Sold my Tamron 18-200 and bought another Minolta 50mm f1.4 and 45 f2 (should be getting them next week) for pretty cheap.Anyways, here's a couple pics with that 58mm lens Tried taking a pic of my car but could not get the whole car in the picture because the lens is so narrow =/Any MF lens users here?

Wow. Don't know how I missed this thread. Nice shots and kudos for going the manual route.
I actually use a few Pentax screw-mount lenses with my Olympus E500 (haven't bought a Nikon F adaptor for them yet).
Still, my favorites are my Pentax-Asahi ME, Sears KS-2 and Mamiya RB67 which are 100% manual. Heck, the Mamiya doesn't even meter on its own.
I recently got myself all set up for developing colour and B&W negatives at home so it's not even necessarily expensive or inconvenient to shoot film over digital. To be honest, none of my digital cameras have been charged or used since I acquired the Mamiya and the darkroom chem.

I have a D7000 (Nikon) as well as a few lenses (18-200, 35mm 1.8, 18-70, 18-55). I do go manual pretty often. I love closing in on a tight depth of field as you did with the first picture. I also have a Canon A1 with a 50mm 1.4. I had more fun with that setup than anything. Lately, I find that I am leaning more and more toward the 35mm 1.8 on my D7000. Sometimes manual focus is required if the AF system doesn't do what you want. Great photos!
