Hey, nothing wrong with old. If it works that's all that counts. Canon's have always been one of my favorites. My SD450 is actually my second Canon. I had an S1-IS before it.
They are nice cameras and reliable. I would love a setup like your Digital SLR, but until my kids are off to college, theres not enough money or time to enjoy it.
I am a Panasonic guy:Panasonic FZ-30 and bunch of SD cards. The Leica 12x stabilized lens is unbeatable.Formerly owned Panasonic FZ-10, unfortunately sold it and sorry about it.Also use from time to time teleconverter Canon TL-55 in addition to my 12x zoom lens.

Nice! Nothing wrong with film. I'm actually looking at making a move to a nicer film camera than what I'm currently using. I've looked at the Nikon N90s or the N8008 (I'd be buying used, obviously). I recently took up a few jobs shooting for a studio and use an 8008 for them. It's a pretty solid camera. A bit finicky at times but that's part of the allure, I suppose.
man you guys are lucky to own all that photography stuff...all i got is a lil fujifilm E510..5.1 MP..1GB card with the original 16mb card aswell..it's alright..dislike it due to it not having image stabilizer..and i dont got the most steady hands
Hey, it's not all about the gear. I've seen amazing photos come from some of the most unlikely sources. As far as image stabilization goes, a decent tripod or monopod will go a long way toward solving those stability problems. None of my cameras have IS and I'm as unsteady as they come.
I updated my list now that I finally ordered my new tripod. Of course now that I've had a chance to shoot portraits in a studio I changed my mind on what I needed and went with a better head. That necessitated killing my order for my big lens and moving it back to the "soon to be ordered". Darn it all anyway.
Just ordered my Nikon 50mm 1.8 lens and Hoya 1B SMC filter.I was taking a shot of my son at dinner time, and the flash went on because it was "low" light with my 28-80mm at about 50mm. I never like flash portraits. It just does not look right. If there are shadows, I think it gives it some character. With the 50mm I could go 3+ stop faster, so that was my motivation.I debated on the filter. I decided not to go "cheap" and when with Hoya Super Multi Coated. I was going with the plain Tiffen UV, but read that it could reflect light during low light situation. The warming part will give better skin tone since my son and wife have very fair skin. 50mm is what I'll use for portraits now on.I'm holding off on the 70-300mm because if I go with digital, that's the direction the tele-zoom will go.I did some comparison side-by-side with 35mm film and my 6mp digital P&S. I like the film quality look of people subjects, and like the sharpness of digital in all other situations (except night light). I think that's my preference.

Excellent! That's the lens I'm looking at when/if I go crazy and finally buy the N90. It's a good, fast, prime for a 35mm. I've done OK with flash on portraits if I attach a diffuser and bounce it. I generally don't care for the look either.Good choice on the filter. If you are going to use a UV at all, it's definitely best not to skimp. I have a Sunpak UV, myself and it's great outdoors but iffy inside. It is multicoated but it still reflects pretty badly. I'd have to agree with you on film/digital although I find myself longing to shoot film again. For one, I love the simplicity of my KS2 and the satisfying "thwack" of the mirror compared to the motorized noise of my E500. But shooting in raw on my digital helps so I can control my sharpness and saturation the way I want them.
I bought a Panasonic DMC-FZ7 last summer. It is a 6mp with 12x optical Leica lens and image stabilizer. My smaller camera is a Canon A520 and also takes very nice pictures in a more pocket size. If I had the money, I'd love to get a digital SLR and then also one of those very thin tiny cameras to take anywhere.

Hard to go wrong with the A520. They're pretty solid.dSLR prices are coming down lately. I don't think they'll ever match the P&S prices but at least they're not completely insane anymore.

As much as I talk about gear and stuff in the last few days, I have to stop and remind myself that photography is all about the picture.I forget the name, but there is a world famous photographer with his best work shot on a 35mm film with a 50mm lens. He is not alone.I need to focus more on the art and lighting. From my renewed interest and shots in the last few months, I can see my "skills" is at a standstill.

It is light and easy to carry around and does what it's supposed to do at a reasonable price ($36)
Holy craps! I don't even know what most of you are saying. Hoya this and model number this... I've got a cell phone camera and an older Kodak something or other.
Fuji A205--first camera, still nice, 2mp P&S. 256MB xD card.Canon S2IS. 1 & 2 GB SD cards, lensmate 52mm lens adapter, UV filter for general lens protection, polarized filter and ND8 filter. I had been using a Fuji 4700, but after seven years of (ab)use it finally gave it up. I bought a Canon SX100 IS and it is pretty cool. 8 MP, 10x optical. Lots of auto modes, and full manual mode. Only real complaint is that the flash charges slowly. Killer macro mode.
