Genvibe Erie mini meet August 22-24

Post by hotbug1776 »

Hotel is group reserved.
Quality Inn
6467 Sterrettania Rd
Fairview, PA 16415
(814) 838-7647
Rooms are $85 a night. You must make reservations by August 8th or rooms will be returned to pool. Includes breakfast and wifi. These rooms are for 2 adults and are 2 queens. 12 non-smoking, 3 smoking. more than 2 adults per room is $15 more per adult.

When calling in your reservation, ask for the "group reservations", under the name "Genvibe".

This is just out of the craziness that is Erie, yet not more than 10 minutes from all of the good stuff to see. This hotel is just south of the camping where Corey works, so everyone who stays at either will still be very close together.

Corey works at:
Presque Isle Passage RV Park & Cabin Rentals
6300 Sterrettania Rd
Fairview, PA 16415
presqueislepassage.com
(814) 833-3272

The meet will be held at:
Presque Isle State Park
301 Peninsula Dr
Erie, PA 16505
presqueisle.org
(814) 833-7424

I'm going to say Beach 11, where Genvibe 2012 was held. Even if we can't get a shelter, we can still hang out and BS, enjoy the beach and playground, and maybe even grill up some lunch. Something along the lines of cheap, hot dogs and chips, byob (no alcohol, sorry).

After the park, we will attend a free cruise-in/car show at:
First Alliance Church
2939 Zimmerly Rd
Erie, PA 16506

There will be free food and drinks (no alcohol), music, and between 200-300 cars. this goes from 4-7, but we can leave at any time. You don't have to participate if you don't want to, but it is a nice time for sure. Other attractions include an amusement park http://www.waldameer.com, several museums, a racetrackhttp://www.lakeeriespeedway.com, casino http://www.presqueisledowns.com, and more.

EDIT:
Friday night: We can meet up at a restaurant (TBD) and have a quick bite to eat.

Sunday morning: We can head to "The Breakfast Place" for some awesome eats. we should arrive early (8-9am at latest) as this place is the most popular place to eat in all of Erie. Both locations are packed every day with locals and tourists alike. If we can't make it early, we can talk about another locale for breakfast or no breakfast at all.

I'm not working right now, so, this is shoestring budget, any help is appreciated. I'll do all I can, but we've all been here at one time or another. Thanks guys.

Wife said that we could possibly go. I just started my current job officially back in March, was working as a temp. before than, so couldn't make the other meet. It'll take us just over 4 hours as we are on the east side of the commonwealth. It would be my wife and 2 kids (6 & 9). We might be able to make it friday the 22nd, if work drops to 4 days a week, but if not, we'll be there for saturday the 23rd, due to me working nights and won't be home till about 3 in the morning.

Where's the best place to get updated info about this, here or the fb page? How long do we have to make the reservation? and you need us to bring anything? This will be our first meet.

I believe this is one event that I could make ..... again! I would only be there for the day and would have to leave by 4-5 pm to make it back to Port Clinton, Ohio by 8pm. Our camp, where I spend most of my summer weekends, is having it's annual Red Solo cup party. This is one event that is a MUST attend and what summertime is all about. Live band(s), adult beverages, munchies, and most of us wearing as little as possible to unwind and enjoy life. It is held right on the beach of Lake Erie.

Anyways count me in for now and if there ends up being enough participants then I'll also chip in some $$$ to help offset any costs for hosting this event. Been working a lot more this summer compared to last summer so I got some extra "mad money" to use at MY discretion :D

All Reservations should be made by the 8th, as the rooms are held only until then. I am linking this page to the Facebook page to make everything centralized here.

Yes, the 23rd is when everything will be "officially" going on.

I plan on doing this pretty much the way HCMO does their meets (that I have witnessed). Pretty much, we just hang out at various locations and talk cars and lives, then eat. So, if you have to leave out after only one night, then that's what has to be.

It's pretty much 2 nights just to make driving a little easier.

Hey! I work till 3 on Saturday. What are the procedures for the car show? Showing up early or meeting somewhere before hand? I am literally right down the road from it, so I just need to get out of work, change, then drive over or to where ever we're meeting!

We will be at beach 11 for a bit, then around 3:15-3:30 we will head over to the show. No charge, just park with the show or with the regular parking, and enjoy the event. No pressure to show, just have fun. we can try to get a parking area together, I don't think it will happen, but we can try.

This is exciting - just reserved the room so one step in right direction! At the moment I'm traveling solo, but it will be exciting to meet some new people out there and such. Plus, I finally have my excuse (and the time) to make it over the Erie!

Now to figure out my travel plans so I can make it there in time.

10 days and counting!!! I don't have a definite list of attendees, but I hope its a number comparable to Pontiac.

I may call today for my camping reservation.

With the way the weather is going, please bring warm clothing to sleep in, and maybe a light jacket for the day.

Any wet weather will change the cruise to Sunday, thereby making our meet a different and possibly indoor one.

I'm excited already, can't you tell?

Looks like I got the day off, things are good to go.
Can't tell from the park's map, is Presque Isle beach 11 by Horsehoe Pond?

Here's a map...

Entrance to the park is to the left of the map. About 3/4th the way across the map (left to right) and 3/4th up the map you will see "No. 11", along with the "Perry Monument and Exhibit", "Horseshoe Pond", and "Frys Landing".

Weather is looking like 80's so far for next weekend. I'm going to see Corey today and get my campsite if any are left.

I plan on coming BUT must break the news to the wife first :o She may want me to drop her off in Olean Ny, but I have different plans as mentioned earlier. Could be a battle brewing on this trip :x I need to blow the dust off the Vibe and get out & drive it. Would only stick around four hours or so then head back to Port Clinton, Ohio for the "must attend" Red Solo cup party :D . Stay tuned .......... Tim

If you are more comfortable meeting at the hotel or the gas station or even the BK next to the campgrounds, we can do that.

Is anyone going to want hotdogs or burgers? or are we just going to grab a bite to eat elsewhere? I would prefer elsewhere, as it doesn't require me to stand by the grill while everyone else mingles. There are a ton of places to eat in the park area, we just need to pick one.

I'm easy going, if it's easier to just meet at the beach I'll be there. I could also give you my cell number if you want, might be a good idea to be able to get ahold of people if need be. As for dinner, we have never been out there so I can't offer my opinion on a place to go.

The road the hotel is on (route 832) leads right into the park, if that is any consolation. I have no problem meeting then cruising, getting lost in an unknown area is a pet peeve of mine. I'll post on Facebook and get reaction.

As of today we are looking at a 40% chance of thunderstorms and 77 on Saturday. If the event is cancelled due to weather, we will take a point from the HCMO book and hang out at a restaurant or two, or have an impromptu cook out at the park. After all, bad weather changes things for car people, unless you have a really big garage. LOL

Good meetup, Presque Isle -enormous, First Alliance Church parking lot -enormous (its bigger than most Wal-Mart parking lots) hold all the cars participating in the show plus spectator vehicles. Well organized event, and you can't beat the price... Free

The two show worthy Vibes,.. Stickers - Check!

Hey guys ...... Tim here. What a week that I had prior to this event. As many of you know living up here in the Midwestern Ohio region, summer finally decided to return. Also at the same time a lot of school districts were back in session. Many of my work customers are school districts and was I ever busy last week. Finished up some work in Sandusky Ohio last Friday and didn't leave until 11pm. By the time I got home, unwound and hit the sack, it was 2am. Not enough rest for this middle-aged Viber to drive to Erie & back in time for other planned events. It looks like you could have used a 2nd gen Vibe to split up the four of you in the photo shoot. Next year I'll be able to make a few meets and should have the resources & time to finally get some more mods done.
