I know it's pretty far guys, but, I'll make my driveway available for oil changes. I've got a jack and stands, and ramps if you want to use them. That and I'm literally a mile from two Autozones. There is a Toyota Dealer in Erie, so any engine issues (I don't foresee any) should be easy to source parts. And just think of the stories you'll be able to tell us. It would make an awesome post on the site, almost like a travel log.I now have the task of lodging for everyone (or those who want it). I'm going to try and find a hotel that's easy to find, yet not too far from any local attractions one may want to explore. that's the tough part.

I might actually be able to make this. Planning on being in upstate NY (Syracuse area) over the 4th of July and Erie is on our way back. If all the stars align..

It would be nice to see a lot of Canadian GenVibers show up With Erie Pa. Being so close to Ontario, I think you could round up a few more up your way to drive down to this meet. It could be the closest thing to an "International" meet

Sadly, the sunfire was side swiped and is at my parents house with a sign in the window. I still have the stroker and will be stuffing it into my VW beetle. I am forced to move on to the Vibe and my bug for things to do. Not a bad thing, just, I wish I could have completed it.

Google Maps says I'm 14-15 hours out. And I drive close to Sandwich! So it'll either be a loooooong drive, or I'll be spending a night on the way there.

Caravans should be used for safety... Persephone would sleep in her car. Some hotels will give you a night free after so many nights stay.Just throwing that out to help. Also, we're all adults here, if we share a room for the night, I think we can all be trusted, LOL

A little too early to commit. Gotta see if my son will be in school or have an internship this summer. Under 8 hours, and the Smucker's store in Orrville OH is very close to the US30 route! Also: Shisler's Cheese House And the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, and ...

I think I'll say tentative yes for now, we can even bring back that canopy structure we bought for the meet two years ago if people want. It'll just depend on budget and whatnot.

Considering how far away I am I'd probably peter out around Cleveland, so I'd probably need to stop there for a night. Maybe do as Persephone did and sleep in Vibby for a night to reduce costs. That and I'm a minor... On the way back I'd stop by Grandma's in IA. Right now I may be in or out. It could go either way. Still, though, I'm going to start saving up... After a moment with my trusty calculator I'm going to need to.

Cochrane, Ab to Presque Isle, Erie, Pa. and back with a few extra stops here and there, 7200kms. Given an average of 700kms per tank with a gas price of around $4/gal, 11 fill ups, 12gal per fill. Gas for the entire trip will be about $528 so budget $600 at least for fuel. Spending a night in a motel, even somewhere cheap will run around $50+ a night so find a comfortable place to sleep in the car. Motel it maybe 3 nights on the trip. $250 budgetFood... whatever type you like. Supermarkets will keep the bills down but thanks to shows like Man vs food, I will have to indulge at least a few along the way!!! $200 budget.$1300 will make for a very nice trip but even with only a grand, the trip is easily possible! Time to start saving up!

For those that would be interested, there is a road about 1.5 hours away from Erie that is listed as a motorcyclist favorite ride for the area, along with the presque isle road, for scenic rides. http://www.motorcycleroads.com....html This is the link. Totally optional thing to do as it is so far away. I was thinking of taking everyone to our local tourist spots including wineries and the casino on a little cruise of the area (the GE transportation plant being one stop for a certain member if he comes). I'm open for all suggestions for things to do, and welcome suggestions. I'm still looking into hotels and would like an idea of everyone's preference in brand if possible, as well as cost. There is one place off the beaten path that I've stayed at that isn't too bad but not a Hilton. Lol

It'd be really cool if we could stop and get some group photos along the way as well!As far as hotels/motels, those of us that stayed over in Indy stayed at a Quality Inn which was nice and was decently priced. They also didn't mind us doing our photoshoot in the parking lot (some employees and guests were standing around watching!) ! Really as long as it is in a safe area, is clean and is reasonably priced, I personally have no preference on chain/brand/etc.

I might be able to take you for an on on grounds drive with me, depending on how security feels about it. Some guards are cool with it, some are kinda strict.

Andy. Any way you can send us a link (map) to the actual parking area that you reserved? My wife wants to know which beach area it is associated with (if any). She is from the Buffalo/Olean/Jamestown area and is very familiar with Presque Isle Thanks

http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/uc...6.pdf Just to the left of the Perry monument on the map (almost all the way to the right of the park). Look for the Coast guard station. Just above the coastguard station look for beach 11. I'll try to get a couple pictures if we get a nice day before spring.

I slept in Walmart parking lots a couple times and once in front of a M&P gas station after asking the manager for permission. My sister is so mean. I was telling her about how I really wanted to do this and hoped I could and she was just like, ". . . How would that be cool at all?"But she comes and excitedly tells me about all kinds of strange tattoos of cartoon characters she's going to get and I don't understand it, so I guess it's okay that she doesn't understand it when I enthusiastically tell her about mods on my Vibe that I'm going to do and stuff like that. XD But at least I'm nice about her thing and I listen.

My route will have me driving right by Sandwhich! My dad says Chicago has horrific traffic, so he wants me to plan accordingly, but I'm not too worried. Should I be?
