Mr. Clean Auto-Dry Carwash System

Post by jake75 »

I got 2 Mr. Clean Auto-Dry Carwash system starter kits - supposedly retail $35 each, for $13.99 in eBay (buy.com). Free shipping. Arrived in perfect condition - original packaging.I saw these on sale at a local store for $22 Each. I hope these will help with my biannual car washing. They are made by P&G so I trust they will be fine. I don't know if these are still available or not.

I have so little money that I only need to launder it twice a year.

I just checked - it is still available at "www.buy.com". Search "Mr CLean".

When these were first introduced I believe they were selling for $30-35.I haven't seen these for $4.99 at CVS here. I think that P&G discontinued them so maybe CVS bought some on the real cheap. I am going to CVS tonight - I will look. BIG LOTS often has discontinued merchandise but they tend to mark things up so I would expect them to be charging about $9.99.I am still happy with paying $7 a unit delivered to my door (and no sales tax). UPDATE: Did not see any of these at local CVS.

Just as an FYI it's not a magic system. It uses a plug in chamber bottle that incorporates a Jet Dry product with Mr. Clean soap. Basically they took the technology of Jet Dry is supposed to fast dry and remove spotting on dishes and glassware in your washer, it was put into use as an automotive product. They called it a breakthrough but yet it never had the impact it was supposed to. Otherwise you would have seen similar product come from Eagle One, Blue Coral, Meguiar's, Mother's, etc. Not worth the money, or the cost of the replacement filters and chambers over time.

When I saw it on sale even for $22 I did not think it was worth the money. For $7 I thought it might motivate me to wash my ride.

Jake75,I've been using the Auto Dry system for years and it really does work well if you do it right. Here's a couple of tips to get a perfect spot free wash. 1. You need to keep the entire car wet until you're ready for the spot free rinse. If the section you just washed is allowed to dry before the filtered rinse, the tap water that washed it will leave spots. Just keep rinsing over the areas you washed as you work your way around the car. 2. When you're ready for the spot free rinse, start at the highest point on the car and rinse down. Get in close (about 1 foot ) and move side to side like you're spray painting as you work your way down. This will displace all the tap water with filtered (deionized) water. You will get a spot free rinse. note: filter cartridge states that it's good for 10 washes. In my case, I get 5 washes out of one. We have really hard water here. If you have softer water, you may get 10 out of it.
