Condensation in Rear Driver Light Assembly

Post by HPilot »

On occasion I get condensation in the rear drivers light assembly, near the top and side.
This is on a 2010 Vibe 2.4l Fwd.
The condensation seems to go away when the weather heats up.
Is there a leak in the assembly cover or does the condensation form
for other reasons?
Light still works by the way.

My 2009 has no condensation in the taillights. Water has gotten in there most likely by a crack or small hole. The crack does not have to be in the face of the lens but can also be a cracked seam in the plastic lens. Is the condensation on the clear part of the lens or the colored part? I would guess the clear.

Yeah it's near the upper part. The reason I say condensation is that it beads up inside.
Water if it leaked in would collect or pool in the lowest part.

Once water has gotten into the lens, it is very difficult to remove if not impossible. You will probably find that as time passes you will get more condensation in the lamp housing. It will also leave marks inside the lens as moisture moves and collects dust and dirt that has gotten in the lens over the years. When it gets really bad and you want to replace it, you need to head over to your local salvage yard to find one. Taillight lens can be expensive.
