What is the best option for roof rack rails?

Post by Yamahammer »

I am wanting to get some rails for my roof rack. My main use for it will be either a couple mountain bikes, possibly a canoe, or a cargo carrier. I have found OEM rails on ebay for around $85. It also appears that a lot of people use other rails that tie around the rack on the car. So, all wise ones, what do you feel is the best option? Thans

I'd say OEM. The end caps are a pain to take on and off. I usually run with no rails for best mileage, but had to put them on to mount my Thule bag for a summer road trip. I think I'm going to just drill them for proper metal mounting hardware. Don't forget to take out the small Phillips screws in the side channels to slide the rails in.
