arg, do i ever hate rock chips!!!has anyone had issues with mass amount of rock chip damage on the front bumper, hood, and slightly on the roof, this car was bought brand new off the truck in 07, and now its horrible, it has to be how the body is designed.. there is easily a hundred on the hood, about a thousand on the bumper, and like 10 on the roof.. ughhh
Bought my Abyss brand new in 2006. At the time, i had a 35 highway-mile drive to work in metro Detroit, each way. You can guess what my hood looked like 2 months later. I am no stranger to the touch up paint pen...I have since moved much closer to work and only drive on streets. I have a bug deflector that I now install before road trips. Helps a lot for chips on the front half of the hood. The roof? That's a tough one to protect. All I can recommend is the 3M clear film shield. I didn't put it on my hood because I heard the unprotected paint can age faster. But, the first 6 inches of the roof? That stuff might work well up there. Worth a shot.I, and many on here, feel your paint pain.
the front bumper is almost not salsa anymore thats how bad it is.im gonna get it buffed, and see if it changes it a bit....and i have given up on the touch up pen/can...anything, salsa is the HARDEST colour to match, once its aged for 4 years.... my metallic base purple on my saturn is easier to match and its 15 years old
Every single car/truck I've ever owned has had that problem, the 09 Vibe is no exception... such is life driving highways in winter...But at least I have NO chips in the windshield or headlights!!!! S_D 1 Winter 0
Paint durability was certainly a weak point with these cars. If the bumper didn't get peppered with rock chips, bugs can permanently etch into the surface.Despite infrequent washing and waxing though, Kari's car still looks pretty good to have been built in 2002. Aside from the chips... Need to get some touch-up paint for it sometime soon, have a few rusties popping up where there isn't any paint.

One word. uh, OK, two words...There are other brands (hope I don't get into trouble with this logo) that will do the job. They have all kinds of colors, but I didn't look to see if the can color match this kind of stuff. Would be tough to beat! (no pun intended )A little of this over the leading edges and, no more chips!!!
