Door Lighting

Post by 04chargedvibe »

Just thought I'd show my latest project. They are kinda nice when you are in a really dark area and cant see where you're stepping at or something. Add a nice touch too

Lol yea. I got the idea when I saw a cadi with them built it. I went to autozone and found these led flexible light strips and got them wired up so they turn on and off with the doors.

Alright heres a couple of quick pics i took of them. If you'd like to see a few more feel free to ask. I bought two different ones. The front door has the light directly in the middle of the strip and the back door has the light on the edge of the strip aiming down. So this is why the back door is more on the panel than on the bottom like the front. They fit just perfectly and dont seem to rub when the door closes or opens and havent had a problem yet Front Back

I'll post pics if I dopossibly wouldn't be too hard. each door has a switch that closes when the door is opened (checked the manual to confirm). switch is negatively connected to ground and then on the positive side connected to the Integration Relay. I'm not sure how much voltage is going down that line, but in theory you should be able to splice in a light between a door switch and the relay. that way if you open passenger back door only that light should illuminate.
None. Vibe is gone.

I used the wire running to the interior lights on the left hand side of the steering wheel.

How did I miss this post back when it was created ? I too plan on a similar mod (already have spare mirrors purchased) but they will be "puddle lamps" as found on the Ford Explorers. When you hit your remote, the interior lights come on as well as these puddle lamps, mounted on the underside of the door mirrors, so you can see what you're stepping on/into. Being that these are "exterior" mounted, you can see BEFORE you enter the car. That would be the only drawback to what is described in this post. When I get them created, I'll post all info for 09-10 Vibers to check out

Brandon "Psycho Martyr" is in the process of sending me his assembly so I'll have it to use as a template/pattern. As you are probably aware of, he had a minor setback with those tornadoes that went through his town. I should see it from him in the next week or two, then I'll work on his & yours. Maybe sometime in June they'll be complete

so you ran wires from each door all the way to that control? is there a sensor in the door that could do this instead?
