new paint job

Post by Raivis »

my brother-in-law paints cars and im thinking about getting him to paint the vibe. not sure what color tho for the ease of it might stay white but add some stripes. the paint on the vibe is going to hell. i have no clear coat anymore and its stained pretty bad. im getting it at cost plus im helping. what do yall think. should i change color or stay with white??? if change what color??? remember that i have the two-tone and wont be changing that. i have some red on the inside but can easily be changed. looking at doing this within the next month. maybe someone could do some photoshop examples. im into any color (other then pink or purple)

Staying with the current color will cost less and be less prep time involvedIf you change the color and if it's done right, that means painting the door jambs and everything else. Removing all the trim, seats, rugs ect to cover all the white with the new color. It's time consuming and costly. Unless you don't mine having white door jambs and say red everything else?

Color Ideas:Get a new color! I had my Honda painted after an accident and picking colors from a small chip in a book is not the way to go. Color is such a personal preference. It's a decision you're gonna live with for a long time. What colors do you like in your house and clothes? You have to see it on a whole car to know if you like it. I looked at cars that I liked online and in parking lots and wrote down the make and model then we looked up the paint color in their book. One day I was walking down the street and I saw the perfect color for me. You will know it when you see it. You can choose colors that they use on Subaru Outbacks for example since they have the cladding too. My friend has a nice Subaru medium blue. I was very happy with the results on my Honda (I switched from black to a medium turquoise blue) and it held up well. I liked having the only Honda that color cause it was so easy to find in a parking lot.

I always wanted to get my car a mystic blue that faded off into white, or visa-versa. But that is just me. How the hell did you manage to clear all the clear coat?

Pick some totally random color...like bright pink or neon yellow....people would have to shield their eyes when looking at you

Paint it chrome. I always thought that would be something on a sunny day. Of course, I mentioned that to someone one day and he said "You can't paint something chrome, it just is chrome."

I had a great time yesterday scrubbing down my 2003 with a thick bristle brush and some Comet cleanser. I've never seen my pathetic NUMMI paint job look so nice. I remember now: my car is Frosty White. Now that I've scrubbed 7 years of crap off of the worst paint job in history, I aught to take it to the paint shop and get it redone, to cover up the 5000 paint chips that were revealed after I took off all the things mother nature has deposited on this car. It took all of my strength to resist ripping off that fine plastic cladding. Alas, at 120,000 miles, a busted windshield, a broken passenger fog lamp, and a dented rear door that looks like a burgler tried to get into the car with a crow bar, who gives a rats (removed) what it looks like.
