Got a new idea (LEDs like an Audi)

Post by Whelan »

The new Audi S6 is a hot car, it has this neat little setup where there are white LEDs in the front lower grillesSo I say why not, it may look kinda cool to have as driving lights in the day or something. I have been debating where to put them on the Trix though. Either on a slant along with the front valence skirt, or just up underneath going straight across for a few inches. Here is a pic of where I was thinking. The product would be something like this. And I'm not sure if I would go in front or behind the grill or encase it somehow with a clear plastic cover.

I like the idea...and i like it on the slant better than on the flat portion. problem with the slant would be getting the LED bar short enough.

Why not just get the LED "neon" tubes and do it with something pre-made, at least to test... It would be seriously interesting if you made the LEDs move back and forth ala Knight Rider.. lol

I just was wanting to get a ram air hood to put one in, so it was more like the kitt. This wouldnt be hard at all you just need something to protect the led's. So do the audi's just...light up, just for looks and so people can see your car better? or is there some purpose to them?

neat idea... maybe you could mount it in the middle of the lower grill instead of on the edge

LED neon tubes? How about this, 6" covered tube, you can get the LEDs in either 8k or 3k color temps. $26 a piece. That with a little right angled strap bracket. I would disable some of the LEDs though so they were spaced and not as many. Or just put it behind the grill.

the led tubes would look pretty good. for placement, i liked the slant. it would give it a lil bit of a fang look. be careful though. i know there are several states that only allow the use of 4 white lights in the frontabout the knight rider comment, i've seen those at autozone before. it's been a while tho, so i'm sure they're gone, but they're still cool

hey no one is allowed to look like Kitt before i do, and with my grill it probably wouldnt be hard either, if anyone can wire something up that i can connect to my remote so when i lock or unlock the car it makes the faded lights go instead of the turn signals i will pay out the (removed) for it.
