Roof Rack Poll

Post by tcam »

Up until just recently, I had really liked the looks that the Vibe provided with the roof racks. I thought that it just added some style that the Matrix was lacking without the racks. But now that I see how nice some of your guys Vibe's look without the roof rack's, I have begun to debate which one I really like more. So, I was just wondering which way you guys prefer it most.

Man I would love to take them off I just dont have the money to get the caps for them, I have always wanted to take them off so all I did for right now was take off the cross beams that were on it, and yes it did make a diffrence in looks so I say take them off

For a while there I thought I was the only one that liked my roof racks, But it appears that it isn't so.

$200 isn't bad, especially for the carbon fiber ones. Go to a body shop and see how much it is for them to 'custom make' some. I bet it's a lot more then just $200!Small price for a totally new look.

i think the roof racks set the vibe apart from the matrix aswell as the head lights. but then again there are a select few that make the no roof racks look amazing. but like everyone said it all depends on personal taste.

Im with the others in that I actually liked the roof rack on my Vibe. It was one of the many factors that made me go with the Vibe over the Matrix. I dont have the cross bars however and Im not sure if I will ever get them.

I would too, but I'm keeping mine on just in the offset chance that I will actually need them one day. lol. U never know Plus I think my Dad is also a firm believer in the "roof racks set the Vibe apart from the Matrix thing". And since he bought the car for me, he might be a bit upset/dissapointed if I even just took down the crossbars.

I like the look of the roof racks. I too think it sets the vibe apart from the Matrix, but it all comes down to a matter of personal choice.

i prefer the roof rack look. it adds character to the vibe. i used to think i'd like the car more without them, but after seeing a few without and having the caps, i like the racks much better.

BLEH. The roof racks make the car look tall and not sporty whatsoever. I knew i was never gonna use them, and i hated the way they looked, so i got the RKSport caps and never looked back.

I love how his vibe looks. But i prefer having them on. i've used them before. With a bike rack up there the vibe looks further sporty. a utility type of sporty.

I love my racks, and the factory GM crossbars, speaking of which, does anyone know how to adjust the crossbars front to back. I got the keys cut (as I bought my Vibe used and the keys were lost) , you turn the end knobs half a turn, and then you pull out a long 3/16" square shaft,(about 9") is that supposed to unlock something , or by turning it unlock something???Only disadvantage is that there is a bit of wind "howling" with the crossbars.

I like the vibe with the rack. I think it straitens out the lines of the car. With out it on there I think it kinda looks like a humped back whale.

One reason for choosing the Vibe was the hauling ability. Since I was down sizing from a small van which had a roof rack, it was nice that it came with one. So far as looks, I think it would be fine without it, but to put the caps on looks like a mistake was made in the initial design.
