Unbelievable. Here's the continually back from the dead thread that couldn't die... and it's now officially over 10 years old!

No one ever made an "Altezza" style tail light for the first gen Vibes (thank goodness!), no matter the constant 10 year pleading streak evidenced in this old thread. Second gen Vibes were actually produced with "Altezza" style tail lights from the factory. After all that, some owners ended up tinting their factory "Altezza" style second gen tail lights to kill the "Altezza" look. It's all very confusing, but horribly true. So the thread actually came around full circle. At least once.

Had to include the following picture for hysterical... I mean historical perspective...

Please note the car's name badge and the so called "Altezza" style tail lights. This fine example of a Toyota Altezza was marketed as the first gen Lexus IS in the U.S. The car is completely responsible for all the "Altezza" madness that evolved through the years, along with this extremely long lived thread! Thanks a lot, Toyota! Guess we should actually go somewhat easy on Toyota, since they were also largely responsible for our Vibes. So, on balance, we shouldn't hold it against them. Too much. ;)

Maybe now this thread can fade away!

Those awful looking "rice" tail lights on our 09-10 Vibes are the worst part of the car  This will definitely be one of my most demanding, time consuming, mods to my Vibe and when I succeed, will make the Vibe look more muscular and "American". Don't hold your breath though BUT it will happen someday, just don't know when :?

Thus the full circle nature of this thread! No one made the Altezzas for the 1st gen Vibe. A great noise was made for a long time for them to be produced. Pontiac listens, and produces the second gen Vibe with Altezza styled tail lamp assemblies. Now we find those Altezzas being tinted or otherwise changed to get rid of the Altezza look.

I didn't think that this tail light design on the second gen Vibe was really all that bad, although I would not have put them on my Vibe if they had ever become available. Look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Don't be a hater! I like my 2009 tails. I do think they look better on lighter colored cars. Hey, I even have Altezza style lights on my Civic and will go to my grave believing they look better than boring stock red/white/yellow tails. I agree 2009-10 Vibe tails will date the cars because of all the imitators (of which our Vibe is one), just like jelly bean shapes and small grilles announce "it's the 90's!"

Worst part of the Vibe? I'm not sure I could disagree regarding the exterior styling, other than perhaps a too small rear window, but I'd nominate hard, scratchable, plastic surfaces on the inside of the car as the worst part of the entire car.
