I don't know how it would work but think it's too extreme and would just spend the money on a good set of tires or some other interior mod.

Really depends on the offset. But I would say with an 8" width it would be pretty close, but then add the thickness of the adapters and I would think it wouldn't work. Like Jbenrod said just spend the money on a set of wheels that will fit without modification or adapters. There are plenty out there. I have 18"x7" on mine, and they fit well, but I also have a 40 series tire. General rule is you want to have the same circumference as the stock setup, so the bigger the wheel the lower the profile of the tires.

I got 18"s on my 2008 with 245/40's and the ride is definitely rougher however handles much better. I was told the 19"s are a much more expensive tire and also, that lower profile would be even rougher.
