tire size

Post by ribompa »

I have a 2010 AWD Vibe with the 2.4L engine with 215/45/R17 tires. If I install 225/55/R17 tires they will be essentially be 3-4 inches larger in circumference. I know they will fit. My concern is whether or not they will be too big for the fender openings (especially on the front wheels when turning). Has anyone else made a similar change or have an opinion? Thanks in advance for your insights.

Hi! Welcome to GenVibe!
What is your goal with changing the tire size? Does the tire you want not come in Vibe size?
The tire you are looking to go to is wider and a lot taller: Diameter +8.5%, Circumference +8.7% and nearly two inches taller overall.

I think that tire would hit the shock tower.

The 225/55 would actually be 6.68" larger circumference and just over 2" larger diameter.
