tire questions

Post by pugly »

Looking at new winter tires and rims for my 08 vibe. Blizzak ws80 195/65×15 with plain steel wheels. Anyone run these and how do they handle? New to this site, purchased my first vibe last month. Thanks

Meh, Blizzaks have never done it for me. Studded winters FTW!

I don't have Blizzaks, I have General Tire Altimax Arctic. They are very good. But I cannot see how you could go wrong with Blizzaks. They are quite possibly the bench mark for all winter tires.

This thread is a little old, but I thought I'd post my impressions. I have a set of Blizzaks on one of my Civic RT4WDs. I bought them used and already mounted on 15 in. rims. This is my first season with them, and I like them. I like that they are quiet on pavement and (so far) I have not experienced any lack of traction. Having said that, when these are worn out, I will most likely get another set of studded General Altimax Arctics (I currently have 2 sets for my other wagons). The Generals are much cheaper and better rated by Tire Rack. The choice may come down to whether you encounter very icy conditions or not. Ice is where the studs really shine.
