aftermarket lug nuts?

Post by WestC4 »

Hey fellow vibers, tried searching the site but didn't see this, so if no one cares I understand. I was looking into putting red lug nuts on my base vibes oem wheels. I like the look of the open ended tuner lug nuts, but would like to know if they will seat correctly. I don't know what the angle is on the oem beveled nuts, so if someone could educate me that would be awesome. I was looking at Vktech D1 Spec red lug nuts. Will these work?
Thanks for the help

Mark is correct on the lug nuts. What kind you can use all depends on which wheels you have. The OEM alloy wheels use the mag style lug nuts and are held in place by the washer, not the conical tapered section of the lug nut like many other wheels. Actually on mine, the tapered part never touches the wheel or the hub, only the washer and the sides of the lug nut below the washer touch the wheel. The stock lug nuts only have the small bit of taper so you can temporarily install the steel mini spare on the car.

The steel wheels for hubcaps and many aftermarket alloy wheels do use the conical, tapered lug nuts, so if that is what you have, then you can use those tapered tuner lug nuts.

Edit: I just looked those lug nuts up, and no, I would not use them on the OEM Vibe alloys. It would be like using square lug nuts in round holes. They would work only with the steel wheels.

These would probably work and they have colored inserts for the open ends: http://www.amazon.com/12x1-5-Chrome-Col ... uts+12x1.5" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
