New here.. :) 03 Vibe :)

Post by kcdortch »

Hi there! This is my first Vibe...traded my Tahoe in for better gas mileage (I drive 100 miles a day for work). I wasnt too fond of the idea of giving up my second Tahoe...but I must say...I absolutely LOVE my Vibe!! I've been pleasantly surprised! I do havr a question though...what exactly is the "Moons & Tunes" package? Mine has a factory 6 disk cd changer in dash and a sunroof... anyway...look forward to this forum! :)

Welcome to GenVibe! Glad to hear you like it. A lot of stuff and fit in the back of the Vibe, and the higher seating position is probably familiar. It looks like it's in good shape.

The "moon & tunes" was a package which combined the upgraded speaker package with a sunroof. In the 05-08 models it included a subwoofer in the trunk which the 03/04 models lack. The 6-disc CD changer is independent of the option. My 04 has this package, came with the regular HU, has the sunroof, 6-speaker sound system (a tweater in the sail panels is the 5th and 6th speaker), and an amp under the passenger seat. If yours has these things, yours has the Moon and Tunes upgrade.

Welcome! You will certainly enjoy the much better mileage, for sure. I got about 340 miles per tank from my son's 06 Vibe when I drove it, so you should get at least that, if not more.

Good luck with it!

I pushed mine to see the difference, and the most I've gotten to a tank thus far is 393.4. And yes, my gas light was definitely on!

That is not bad at all! My commute referenced above resulted in 28mpg - 75% hwy 25% city. Just highway driving at ~65mph, I made it over 420 miles on his car once, and got 35mpg. I filled up with just about 12 gals. :D I kinda wish I had bought an earlier Vibe for myself, as I could easily go 2 weeks on a tank, but I really like the look of the newer GT. But the 24mpg I get is much better than the 17mpg I got on my Mustang.

A lot....I think I'm at about 187, xxx now. No complaints though...all I'm gonna do is pile the miles on anyway.

Welcome to GenVibe :D Smart move on switching vehicles. Are you located where you get a lot of snow? Just curious if you'll anticipate any issues with winter driving compared to the Tahoe. Enjoy the ride. ;)
