I figured you were probably planning on getting some new ones, just had to bust your chops . I had generic universal ones in my Vibe when I first got it until I got the GM ones. By the way, I vote for the GM floor mats because they look very nice with the Vibe and arrowhead logos .Yeah, I totally hear ya about only taking pictures when it's clean. For the most part I am the same way, but every so often I'll take a dirty picture, but for your black it just doesn't look quite as sexy if it's not clean.I have never actually seen what the cargo cover looks like. Mine didn't come with one because the dealer I got my GT from is cheap . Would definitely like to see some pictures so I can decide if I'd like to get one or not.I was considering getting the door sills, but they are so expensive and I was wondering if they were full replacements or just stick on. That sucks they're just stick on, but I'm sure they still look nice. Again, once you post pictures I might decide to get some .Again, absolutely gorgeous black GT ! Keep it up and welcome to the family !

Yep, sooooo much better without the front plate, it looks a lot cleaner / less cluttered IMO. Hope I don't have to move to a state with a front plate as I would really hate to have to punch the holes into the front bumper ... ouch!
Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since I updated this. Had been busy for awhile, but with some time on my hands lately I've finally been able to get some things done. So, here we go ...Window Tint ... GM Door Sill Plates ... GM Cargo Mat ... Weather Tech All-Weather Floor Mats ... I know some of you wanted to see the cargo cover ...Storage bag ... Snapped in place ... And just a few extra shots ... As you can tell, my Vibe is very photogenic, and I just love taking pictures of it!!! I've also done some lighting upgrades - put some DDM Tuning HIDs in the lows and fogs - 35W - 5000K. The stock housings seem to do pretty well with them. There doesn't seem to be too much glare, and they are aimed pretty good downward ( i.e. - high beams are definitely still needed). Haven't had them in there too long, but haven't had any issues ( knock on wood). They are definitely much brighter and whiter then stock - well worth it IMO. Will be upgrading the highs to some PIAA intense white halogens since the stocks now seem really dingy yellow compared to the HIDs.Also did the DRL / AHL disable/switched mod, as well as the fog light mod (linked to the parking lights) - very nice to have full control of everything now ...I just want to say thanks to everyone here on GenVibe, this site is full of invaluable information as well as some of the nicest people around!!! This site is definitely very addicting, and the mod bug has definitely bit me - been thinking of getting a nice in-dash touchscreen nav unit now. I've got a few other thoughts on my mind too ...

Glad to see you updated your garage with some new pictures and modifications !Question: You didn't move the badges on the hatch did you? Just something weird I noticed and was curious about .Yours (are even with the top of the hatch handle):Mine (are even with the bottom of the hatch handle):Also, what kind of tint is that? It's so metallicy looking, not black like most tint . What % is it?The door sills do look nice, but it sucks that they just stick to the original ones and aren't full replacements .Thanks for the pictures of the cargo cover! I am definitely considering getting one for my mom's GT since her windows aren't tinted. Now you just need to post some pictures of the HIDs! The person in charge of putting the badges on must have forgotten how to do their job LOL ! At least I know it wasn't just my imagination that they are higher than mine were . It makes your GT unique . Or you could always consider it a good reason to de-badge the hatch .It does look good in a weird sort of way . I am thinking if the car were lighter, say silver, it would look even better. I am just used to seeing tint that is black. It definitely doesn't look bad though, just not used to seeing tint that looks like that. I wish I could have my windows tinted darker, but unfortunately they just passed a law here in Illinois that says if all the windows are tinted, they can't be more than 35%. I so want to move somewhere warmer with less stringent tint laws .Can't wait to see pictures of the HIDs !

Yeah, in most states reflective tint is illegal. Thankfully here in FL the laws are a little more relaxed since it's so hot and sunny for most of the year. The first two weeks I had the vibe (before I got it tinted) in the middle of the summer was almost unbearable! I'm definitely glad I got it done, some sort of window tint is almost a requirement here in FL in order to survive - lol! I'll have to put a thermometer in there and see for sure, but during the summer there will be times it gets to 120 - 130 inside even with the tint. They had an exhibit at Epcot in Orlando, Fl. With an outside temp of 93, it was 176 inside the car!!! http://attractionsmagazine.com...-car/It actually varies how dark / reflective it appears based on where you are standing and how sunny it is. In the pics I posted, it is probably at it's darkest / most reflective. As you get closer to it, and the sun dies down a bit, it is easier to see in. It is also slightly darker then legal, but thankfully I haven't had any issues (knock on wood). The cops are generally much more relaxed regarding tint down here. One of my old co-workers actually had limo tint all around his F-150, and he never had any issues.

Thank you so much for posting all the HID pictures! The places where you have your ballasts mounted are exactly where I was planning on mounting mine if I decide to get some so it's nice to see they do indeed fit very nicely in those spots. You have the 5000K correct? I am thinking, if I do get them, I am going to go with 4500K to get a better match with the rest of the halogen lights on the car since I don't feel like changing all the other lights out for LEDs . Have you had any troubles with the lights at all i.e. not lighting up right away, water issues, etc.? Did you adjust your headlights at all? Thanks again !

Yeah, I definitely did some trial and error for the best spots to mount the ballasts. I wanted something secure (no double-sided tape), but didn't want to drill into anything if it could be avoided. So, I just ended up using zip-ties to mount them. I think it worked out pretty good, the ones in the engine compartment are hidden pretty nicely too.Yep, I do have the 5000Ks in both lows and fogs. They can seem slightly different as a result of the different housings for the lows and fogs, but it is barely noticeable I think. I got them from DDM tuning (thanks to the wonderful suggestions of some members here), and they have some nice images of the different colors to give you an idea of the look. I would recommend them - considering the price they have them for, as well as the benefits (brighter / whiter light, longer life, less energy use), I think that they are worth it. I have some PIAA intense white bulbs on the way to replace the highs since they seem too dingy yellow now compared to the HIDs.Haven't had any issues with them at all - seem to be working well (and the lifetime warranty that DDM has definitely helped put my mind at ease). They ignite pretty quick, and are fully warmed up after about 15 seconds or so. No water issues - the 9006 lows had the nice weather pack connector on the wiring harness that plugged right into the factory wiring, so I'm not worried about any water issues (everything seems sealed pretty well). The H10s for the fogs only had the flat blade terminals to insert into the factory wiring (no weather pack connector). I taped them up, and while it seemed alright, I didn't want to take a chance of them coming loose or water leaking in. I found the right weather pack connectors on ebay (I think it was around $2 per pair) and they snapped right in - problem solved! Didn't touch the headlights - still aimed the same as they were from the factory. I think it's pretty easy to adjust everything though if you wanted / needed to.No problem - I hope they were helpful!

After seeing how bright they are, I think that the 55w kits would be too much and most likely blinding to others. I was debating the 55w at first, but am really glad I got the 35w - I think they are perfect!Haven't had them in there too long, but no - I have not gotten flashed by anyone. I've also driven by / past quite a lot of cops at night with the lows and fogs on and haven't had any issues. I'm sure that if anyone would do / say something that they would. Knock on wood - lol! I think that since HIDs are becoming much more commonplace on cars these days, people seem to be getting more accustomed to them. The 09-10 vibe headlights seem to do well with the HIDs and limit / reduce light scatter / glare. I would never have dared to put the HIDs in my old Explorer that I had - that would have probably been a disaster!

Yes. Yes I am ! What I mean by "weird" is, to me, it makes more sense that it would be black and thus, would draw less attention to the fact that it's there rather than the light gray which sticks out more. Than again, all the plastic back there is light gray, so I can also see the reasoning for that color choice as well .Cobra radar detectors are awesome! I bought mine back in 2003 at Target. I don't remember how much I paid for it, but I know it was under $100.00. It still works great to this day and I have never gotten a speeding ticket. Highly recommend Cobra

Rats, Tim! I go away for one weekend and I miss out on a great deal. I was just up in Findlay on 9/11-12.Congrats Carrie! I'll have to find one just to keep up with my twin. LOLRon
Ron, GM Parts Direct has the cargo security shade (#19171208) for $77.25 with shipping (it's $89.00 from the dealer). I will be ordering a second one from them soon for my Vibe. The one from Tim will go in my mom's Vibe since her windows aren't tinted.

Rest assure that I have an idea that will put ALL other shades to shame for our generation Vibes. As stated many times, I'm going to be busy over this upcoming winter with SEVERAL mods. Pics will be posted as progress is made BUT we all must be patient

Quote, originally posted by DressedInBlack »so how are the HID's holding up?They have been working very well! I don't do too much night driving these days it seems, but they have been working excellent! No issues, they all start up pretty quick, no flickers or anything like that. All the wiring / weatherproofing must be pretty solid too as I've gone through a few torrential downpours using them with no problems at all . I was somewhat worried about any excessive heat issues, but found after a few hour long night drive that the housings were remarkably cool (much more so then the stock bulbs). Not really surprising though, as the physics behind filament bulbs make sense - a lot of energy is wasted through heat ... Next project - thanks to my tax refund check it looks like I may finally be able to get the in-dash nav unit that I've wanted for the Vibe ... hopefully!
thanks for the update...it seems all the rants, raves, and reviews about DDM's HID kits are either 5 out of 5 stars or 1 out of 5; "they rule!" or "they totally suck!"i just figured you would be better to ask than to go buy the stuff i found on the internet...lol.thanks again, and i hope you get your navi soon! which model are you looking to purchase?
Yeah, honestly I've always been a big supporter of the "you get what you pay for" theory. I had heard many good things about DDM as well, and with the lifetime warranty and lower prices I figured I would give them a shot. Usually I would be pretty skeptical about the quality, but I haven't been disappointed with them ...No problem - glad to help! Trust me, if they were garbage I would absolutely tell you! I'm not sure how the will hold up in the long run, but they have been good so far!I was looking at the Pioneer AVIC-Z120BT, but at CES they announced the Z130BT will be out in April, so I think I may hold out a bit for that. There are not any real significant changes, but enough to be worth waiting IMO. Plus the MSRP on it is less then the Z120 (by $200 or $300 IIRC)!
