They are so when he hits mach 1, he doesnt loose the hood! But the hood is lighter then stock and they keep the hood from flying up to the windshield

Quote, originally posted by drunkenmaxx »ok, so they are connected underneath?Yep! There is a rod that goes through the center of the disk on the hood, from under the hood. Both rods are usually mounted on the horizontal metal support the headlamp screws to. The pin with the wire cable to it goes through the rod, thus holding it down. You mostly see these on cars where the hood is removable or if it does not have a latch.

Quote, originally posted by drunkenmaxx »i've always wondered, what the hell are those pins for?well mi-vibe toolguy got it right on the head... i'm removing the stock latch because the hood's hook for the latch was too short so it wouldn't sit flush with the front of the car. I'll take a picture in a little bit of where i have the rods attached.

well i went in to the body shop today to pick up my car.... and they had rushed through it and left some major paint flaws in the paint there was 3 places where they paint was just completely cracked through, and other places where it looked like they had gone over the primerwith 80grit and had left it at that before painting...very dissappointed.

RIP them a new one and get it fixed.... you cant just drop the hood off since they now know what the color is and all that good stuff so you not without a car?

Looks good, though with the 'agressive' hood Id have painted the black cladding to give it a better look.

I'm actually thinking about painting the whole car but first i have to do my performance modifications. and since i have bought the turbo, and now my house needs a new a/c, i may have to forego some of the internals to the engine and just upgrade my tranny via Levelten.com they've got a billet TC and some other stuff for the tranny so i'll probably end up doing that. and save the internals for later.

joe, dude, that slp hood is bad (removed). i zipped through this thread...did your hood come with the short ram?beautiful carnice work

no i put the short ram on at the ohio meet last year....I still need to hook it up to the hood and make it functional ram air. I'm thinking I may do that as part of my turbo install, if not then maybe I can get the SC tube so that i can fit the filter on straight

Yes I am in the Army and currently on a deployment to africa for 15 months. The sunset was taken by a guard shack here on my camp. and as far as the thank yous... you are most welcome. I'm a little over halfway done with my second tour of service and am fully planning on it being my last enlistment....but things do change.

Oh trust me this is killing me. i wish I wasn't deployed I wanna tinker with my car soooo much but I can't cuz i can't even see my car*sad* but it's ok i guess i get to drive some cool looking "Green Machines" The only thing that is going to be good about the extra 3 months that i'm deployed is that i'm going to be getting an extra thousand a month for the last three months that i'm out here.

He hasn't been on the forum since June of 2011. Good luck on the hunt.
