Welcome to the GenVibe Garage! Here are a few guidelines to follow when posting your info. [1] When creating your first post, title it in the format "Membername - Year Model" (example: NSimkins - 2003 Vibe Base). If you goof, a mod can and may make modifications afterwards if necessary to maintain consistency.[2] Feel free to post any info/pics into the thread. [example][3] Images may be attached (one per post unfortunately) using the File Attachment section when creating/editing a post. Alternatives include uploading your images to an external hosting site (for example, Photobucket). If displaying images, please be considerate to others by keeping them at a maximum of around 640x480. If too large, a mod may convert your image to a link (URL) instead.[4] After you have created your thread, you can simply go back into the thread to edit/add/remove items in the post simply by clicking the EDIT button (near the top right of the screen) after your thread is opened.[5] Additional thread features can be found in this thread.Note: these are preliminary guidelines and will be expanded soon. Feel free to reply with any other questions or suggestions to add. Also, keep an eye out for the list of GenVibe Garage mods soon!

I went crazy getting a Lava Red one. Wound up with 2. Gave one to my daughter.I have a Lava red base models 06 with auto trans. The 1.8 is plenty for me, and it is a lot of fun. Gas mileage yet to be determined. My wife likes our Toyota Prius. Gas mileage is pretty good.

Congrats on the purchase. I just bought a new 2009 Vibe. My manual is very consistent about 5W20 oil. All the threads I read on the subject seem to be in agreement.

My manual on page 9-9 insdicates that you should use 5w-20 for both the 1.8 and 2.4. On the engine it says 5w-20 or 0w-20.This is the first I have noticed that the battery is a Toyota brand manufactured by Johnson Controls and is only 365 cold cranking amps.

Please remember that we have separate forums for specific topics. The Garage is the forum to "park" your car and show it off. Maintenance, repair and questions should be posted in the appropriate forum. :)
