Help with Driver-Side Window Trim/Channel/Weather Stripping

Post by elrodvoss »

Afternoon,

I have been a member for several years, just inactive, but always grateful that there is someplace to turn for help on my Vibe.

Anyways, I have been having an issue with the driver-side window trim/channel/weather stripping I am not sure what it is called, but its what keeps the wind and water out and keeps the window from rattling. Only the back "channel" is missing. It was stretching from the top corner, but it finally ripped away and now its sitting in the door somewhere.

I went to a local shop and they want to charge me 2.5 hours labor and part cost for about $250, $80 of that is the part cost.

Can you tell me what the part is called or even the part number?

Can you also point me in a direction of a guide or how easy or hard it is to replace this part? I would like to get this fixed, but I would really prefer not drop two and half bills doing it.

Below are pictures of the window, you will notice that the "stripping" is missing on the back side of the window. I know that the "stripping" goes from the front of the window by the side mirror, up the door, over the top, and down the back of the window, so its all one piece. Just need help with everything else.

Thanks.

it's called a window run. it's nothing but black rubber and it's easy to replace.

as long as your window opens and closes properly, pop a section out from the door frame channel and pull it completely out, along the channel. grab a can of silicone spray, lube up the new one and slip each end into the channels in the door. operate the window up and down to help move the run down the front and rear door channel.

Thanks for the advice, but I hope I can pick your brain just a little more.

Here is a site that offers various GM parts with exploded views of the parts and I'm hoping that you can confirm which part I need.

http://parts.nalleygmc.com/showAssembly ... lYear=2005" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and the one part that i think I need is
002 WEATHERSTRIP. Front Door Window
WEATHERSTRIP,FRT S/D WDO - LH. Required: 01
LHD. For: S26 (2003-2008) (2003 - 2008).

But I also question this item:
005 TAPE. Front Side Door
TAPE,FRT S/D WDO FRM BLACKOUT - RH. Required: 01
RHD. For: S26 (2003-2008) (2003 - 2008).

I believe that is is the 002 item, but I want to make sure before I start ordering parts to fix this.

Thanks again for the advice.

#2 is what you need.

#5 is the exterior black tape that goes around the outside of the door.
