I don't have the sticker (front end collision replacement parts I guess) for the amount of Freon I need to fill a/c. I am replacing the compressor & need to know how many Oz's I need to refill an empty system. I have 4.6 oz of pag 46 in compressor so I just need the R 134 amount. Anyone? Thank you. It looks like the Matrix takes less from what I have searched (18 oz vs 23 oz)? I found another site that specs 17.28 Oz of R 134??

Here is the table of refrigerant system capacities from the 2003 Vibe factory service manual

1.41 lbs is 22.56 oz, so in 18 vs. 23, the book says 23.

The table and elsewhere in the HVAC section is says that the compressor gets 2.5 oz of PAG, but to replace with whatever amount came out of the old component. I don't know the effect of having more than what they've spec'd

Aside from the obvious external sheet metal differences, the HVAC system is one of the few differences between Matrix and Vibe

The site says you've been a member here for a while, but this is your first post, so, Welcome to GenVibe!

Would there be a problem to adding 1.5oz too much R-134a? I have 2 cans @ 12oz each.

I don't know what effect overfilling refrigerant would have. I have limited experience, have only ever used cans that came with a gauge, then filled it until the gauge read high in the green range (highly precise technical terms ;) ) Never had to vacuum out from an opened system.
