HVAC/AC/Heater Mode stuck

Post by grin80 »

Hi,
I have a 2009 Pontiac vibe base model,
lately the "mode control" know has become rough to turn (and change the direction of the air), this morning the know become loose and will not change the direction at all.
i am guessing that i will need to change the know (as if it is loose it is probably broken) but my question is, how do i access the actual mechanics that actually routes the air into the front, down or windshield, and where is it, as i am sure something is stuck there,
also, it sounds like something behind or near the radio is rattling, and i am guessing it is all a part of the same problem.

Thanks

The quickest thing to check is the cabin air filter behind the glove box. If you take that out you can try and see what's in there and hopefully it will be easily removable from there. If not you're probably talking about tearing into the dash which I thankfully haven't had to do yet so I'm not up to speed on how to get in there.

I found the solution, thankfully it was an easy one,
after removing the mode selector, I saw the control cable loose,
putting it back in the right position fixed my problem.

no parts needed.

Thanks to anybody that tried to think about it...
