Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached.

Post by joatmon »

Today I tried to upload a 42KB jpg as a post attachment , and got a message:
Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached.

So, is that a genvibe forum overall quota, or a quota on my individual account?

I'd upload a screen grab of the message, but , well, you know ...
Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached.

To get around it you could upload the photos to a photo sharing site such as Photobucket, then paste the IMG code into your post. That's how I manage all my pictures.

I get the same error.

The latest Photobucket "upgrades" have rendered that site unusable for me. I can't find the options I'm looking for, or things are just flat out broken. I have 10 years of Vibe pics on there, but quite frankly I'd rather post anything new here on the board than to deal with that madness...

You can go back to classic. I'm still using the old format.

The reason why I prefer to upload them here is for the "future".
There are a number of threads here that used to be really useful, where helpful and active members have posted information and how to's with lots of excellent pictures, using an external image host. But interests change, and a lot of these people have moved on, and have chosen to not maintain their external hosting of the images and other attachments they made an integral part of their helpful threads, and now those threads have lots of broken image icons. I have always tried to upload the pictures here, so that as long as genvibe is around, the pictures would be here also. If I move on from the Vibe, I don't have to worry about the impact to the site that I have spent so much time on. I have also posted here a lot of pictures and attachments that really, nobody would miss if they were gone, but I like to think that some of what I've uploaded would be missed. At some point I'll move on, but these cars will be around for a long time, and hopefully so will genvibe. Genvibe a great archive of Vibe tech knowledge, will be a valuable resource to those trying to keep their Vibes on the road in the outyears, except for the parts that have since disappeared because they were externally hosted by formerly active members who have since moved on.

I have a number of alternatives to uploading attachments to genvibe, and will shift to them if needed. At least I now know that the quota issue affects more than me, I assume it is not an individual member quota, more of a forum overall thing.

mkowdley, I am not asking for an increase in quota, was just trying to understand the situation.
