VOTE RE: TWITTER FEATURE ON THE MAIN PAGE

Post by BlueCrush »

Many have been offended by the porn and racism showing on the twitter feature on the main page. I agree, it is not something that represents this site and it really adds no value to the site. In fact, it takes away from the family atmosphere we try to maintain here on GenVibe and could get someone into trouble by accident either at work or at home. Please vote on whether you think it should remain on the site or if it should go away. In the meantime, those of you who are offended by it can click on the "hide this" link above the Twitter ads on the main page.

Well I assume it's there for a reason. I mean if it's necessary for the income from that ad to keep the site where it needs to be, then ok. But I agree about the family environment here. I mean everyone has a sense of humor, but we keep it tasteful. ANYWAYS... I suppose my vote is to lose it.

So any new members that come to the site and the main page will see it and would turn some potential members away immediately. No good. However, "hiding it" is the only temporary solution available right now. "Hide this" also works if you are not logged in and go to the main page.

WOW, I normally only look at the active topics page. I looked at the main page today and I see frontal nudity and oral (removed). It has gotta go, it has no place on this forum.

Doesn't really do too much for us anyway, from what I gathered most of the forum doesn't even use Twitter. :-P

Yup, seems strange that the inappropriate stuff would have used the word "Pontiac" in it (the "Vibe" part doesn't surprise me :-P)

I'm generally of the opinion that Twitter and its' ilk will be the downfall of humanity, but that's just me. I'm stunned to know that upwards of a million people care to know Ashton Kutcher's every fleeting thought. I say lose it.

Alright! I sent an IM to Mike regarding this issue and he, as the wise admin he is, has removed the Twitter feature for the time being until it can be set up to manually approve postings. So, thanks to those who reported the issue and a HUGE thanks to Mike for his work in keeping this site running and for his attention to the needs and respect for the desires of the membership here at Genvibe! As this is no longer an issue, I am locking this thread following my reply.
