Having Problems Getting your IM's? Look here...

Post by BlueCrush »

Some people are having problems receiving IM's (instant messages). If you are, do this:1) Go to "My Profile" at the top of the page. Select "User Options" from the top right column. Go to the 4th option from the bottom and make sure it is set to "Allow Instant Messages".2)Check the security programs on your computer and make sure they are set to allow ads & pop-ups for "forums.genvibe.com"

yup #2 was my problem back in the day. google's tool bar pop up blocker was blocking them. spyware doctor popup blocker will also block them and so will IE v7 pop upblocker so double check your settings

I've been a part of many forums and still am.I gotta say, i absoulty HATE the fact that GV doesn't have PM's or personal/private messages and only this IM deal... I think it is crap that if someone wanted to they could pester the crap out of you with an IM window, IF, you remember to allow pop-ups for the site and you don't have your browser to clear your sessions when you close it (firefox, i can't believe people are still using IE)I'm not a site builder, but this is a big downfall to this particular site if you ask me...

I had seen that in the My Profile page, but have never needed to see what happened when I followed that link. The only part of the zeroforum IM system that bugs me is that I can't resize the text area of the IM window, but that is a token thing. Sometimes it is inconvenient to have an interactive dialog using the IMs, (have to keep loading a forum page to get the updates) but for times like that, we've IM'd to coordinate, then jump to the chat thing.I guess I don't really understand what about the IM system makes it such a big downfall to genvibe for Sublimewind
