'05 AWD Front Lower Control Arms

Post by Melissa18L »

i need lower control arms and stabilizer links...in the front for inspection.

are these interchangeable with the fwd ones or non-specific?

the only thing listed for AWD were rear ones (and they were $360 compared to all the others being less than $50)

at 251K btw!

The front lower control arms and sway bar end links are all the same on the front for the 03-08 Vibes.

so, the ones i ordered did not fit. there is a slight arc to the new ones that seems ok, but puts the wheel out of whack.
this is what i ordered.

the old control arm put on its side is almost completely flat, the new ones you could almost fit your hand under. so really just looking at pics here, but i was thinking of these

advance auto also comes up with that same number https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/moo ... 10195684-p

mechanic uses napa and they had 2 listed. the other one made me enter what engine i had and only said may fit your vehicle. https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/NCQ2605 ... ontrol+arm

All four major parts stores, Advance Auto, AutoZone, Napa, O'Reilly's, all list the exact same control arm options for ALL 2003-2008 Vibes, whether FWD 1ZZ, AWD 1ZZ, or the 2ZZ. Rock Auto does as well.

Odds are, your old one is bent out of shape. There should be a slight curve to them, especially as it gets towards the spot where the ball joint mounts too. that should curve downwards a bit. I guess, there could be the slight crazy possibility the new ones you picked up arrived bent, but unlikely.

Since you're messing with suspension related paraphernalia, you may likely need an alignment afterwards. It could also be that your tie rods are out of whack, too, causing the tire to be out of alignment.

Either way, I am just confirming that they are all the exact same control arms. Toyota even calls this out.

there is a slight curve to the ones that came off, there is just more of a curve/arc to the new ones. so the moog ones should fit? advance actually says "exact fit" on the listing. on rockauto i choose items from the same warehouse to get parts sooner. probably not the best way to pick parts.

yeeep. so long as you're lookin' 'em up under the correct year/model, they should all fit, regardless of where you purchase the parts from.

If you haven't purchased them yet buy Moog. For my auto they were 50 bux a piece on Amazon. I bought cheapies from ebay before and they only lasted 3 years.

How casually we say things like "only 3 years" There are folks out there that replace cars about that often.

I have never had a single problem with a Moog part. They have always been at least OEM quality or better. Most Moog items also have a lifetime warranty. Yes, they cost more but are worth it in the long run because how much is it going to cost you to ship the other arms back to RockAuto? If you add that cost into the price of those arms, the Moog arms are a bargain. Also add in the wasted time and materials to ship them back and you can add that cost up to education or the old saying of "You get what you pay for".

Updating in case anyone else runs into this.

These fit perfectly.
Duralast Lower Control Arms 520-450 & 520-449

These did not fit.
Ultra-Power RK640361 & RK64360
(the boxes say Dorman with another part #, but the RK40361 etc are stamped on the part)
