2003 base rear drum brake shoe width?

Post by mntn-biker » Thu Feb 13, 2020 7:05 am

There appears to be 2 different drum brake shoe widths available for the base Vibe fwd? Anyone know which is correct? I see varying descriptions anywhere from 1-13/32" wide to 1-51/64" wide to 1.57" wide (Napa). Most part numbers I see all contain "785" in them so I'm guessing they are all the same width just depends maybe on if they are measuring the actual brake material or the actual width of the metal shoe? I'm leaning towards the Napa brand since they will be turning my drums and they also have a hardware kit in stock. Napa filter was also asking for drivetrain and motor to filter further. The Napa p/n is TS10785.

Anyone else have experience with researching the differences? Can't imagine there are different widths unless the AWD models are different (if applicable)?

There are technically three different drum brake shoes.

2003 Base FWD
2003 AWD
2003 GT

Just ensure you are looking at the correct trim level to ensure you receive the correct brake shoes.

I believe the correct part number at AutoZone is 785 for the FWD shoes. Rock Auto also lists these same part numbers with slight variances (IE: Monroe is BX785; Raybestos is 785PG)

The AWD is 790.

The GT is 796 as they consider that a "parking brake shoe" and not a "brake shoe."
