New Year => New Job

Post by BlueCrush »

I was minding my own business yesterday just afternoon when I did one of my many daily checks for jobs on craigslist. When this one popped up: http://minneapolis.craigslist.....htmlIt is for a Structural Design Assistant and Sample Maker. Basically, I will be making prototype specialty packaging for products and POP store displays using corrugated cardboard and solid fiber cardboardI sent an e-mail 30 minutes after it was posted and I received a reply back within 5 minutes. I was the first to e-mail them about it. I went for the interview earlier today at 1:30pm and went for a pre-employment drug test at 4:15pm today. They just sent me an offer for employment for 30hrs/wk @ $14/hr. Not great money but a great way to get my foot in the door since they said this is a newly developed position that could turn into a F/T Design Engineer position. The best part is that they are located only 1/2 mile(as the crow flies) from my house. So, I will be able to walk there most of the time as the weather permits. You know what they say - "The early bird gets the worm". By bird I mean "ME" and by worm I mean "JOB". lol.

They probably saw how cheaply you were selling off all your Vibe stuff and thought you needed a drug test.

LOL! Thank guys. No more modding for me unless I get something permanent. If anything this may just delay getting rid of the Vibe. It didn't seem very quick. lol. But, I'm just glad to have found something that isn't retail for fast food that pay's me better than both.

Thanks guys! I got the official "Conditional Offer of Employment" letter from them yesterday. I should be starting on Wednesday or Thursday after my pre-employment drug test results come back with a passing grade.

LOL! I got the call yesterday...I passed the drug test! No surprise there.Today was my first day! Got trained in 3 hours. First full day will be tomorrow. This is a super easy job that will keep me moving the whole time I'm there. Basically I will be using an automated cutting machine to create sample packaging from 80"x120" sheets of corrugated cardboard. It's a pretty sweet set-up.

Apparently, I'm doing a good job so far. I just got a big promotion. I went from the bottom of the structural design department to the top of the graphics department. I was a part-time Structural Design Assistant and starting next Monday, I will be the Flexographics Project Manager. It's about time, I've been there a whole month now. lol. It's full-time and I get waaaaaay better pay, plus vacation time, full heath, medical, dental, life, etc.. & 401K. I am super excited because I have been working for myself for the past 8 years and now I get paid benefits, woohoo!!! I'm shooting for CEO next month, lol. J/K. But there is great advancement possibilities with this company.I just wanted to share the good news!
