This feature of GenVibe has been slowly dying off. Month after month it gets more and more difficult to get nominations. Not too much in the way of votes either. Any opinions of what we should do about this?

Just curious as to when this feature peaked? A few years ago maybe? It seems like the "regulars" who chime in here almost daily are the only ones who would be considered for this honor, and we're at the point where we nominate them over & over & over. You'd think that as our Vibes age, there would be more interest and involvement here but apparently that is not the case. Lots of members (not sure the exact number) but poor involvement.

it is frustrating. I ran MotM for a while, passed it on after prolonged disappointment with participation levels.
Not sure if people don't care or just don't see the threads.

Maybe get an alert, like the one for the banner contest, that just reminds people of the VotM and MotM contests, that way something about the contests would show up in every forum listing, might catch the eye of those who browse forum by forum instead of using active topics

I agree that it's getting harder and harder to nominate members. It's pretty much the same core group of members that post on a regular basis and pretty much all of us have already won at least once, if not more, which makes nominations that much harder. Unfortunately, we have a ton of registered members, but only a very small percentage actually post and an even lesser percentage post on a regular basis.

I agree with joatmon that there should be a link to the voting thread at the top of every forum, just like with the banner contest. That way if members only read through certain forums, they will still have a chance to see it and hopefully it will get them to go vote.

I think voting every other month, if not every 3 or 4 months is a good idea. This should theoretically give more members a chance to post more often over a 2, 3 or 4 month period as opposed to just 1 month. And of course, I say we definitely need to keep MOTY. So... I voted for voting bi-monthly, although as I said above, I also think voting every 3 or 4 months could work well too.

We have employee of the quarter at work. How about MOTQ? I check in on genvibe everyday, but I'm guilty of lack of participation.

Quarterly would in theory give more people a chance to vote, in turn should give more members a chance. That with a link like the banner contest could very well bring it back to life. Either way should definitely have MOTY as well!

I agree with the quarterly polls. That would be the way to go. There are always too many great choices for VOTY to pick from...lol!

VOTM may become VOTQ eventually.

I think this is a great idea. VOTQ sounds like it would be better if you are having problems with people voting. I say if you don't post for the month more people would notice the change and when it does come time to do VOTQ you should have a bigger audience according to my calculations.

We could also tweak the rules a bit. Say, to be up for VOT?, you must submit your car, kinda like a magazine would have you do. Then the members could pick from the submitted selections.

As for MOT?, perhaps the moderators could put up a list of top posters, or best topic, or even most helpful/involved.

Just throwing a couple more pennies into the jar.
