Power steering fluid

Post by cptnsolo77 »

Last year I flushed my power steering fluid ( after over 200K ) via the turkey baster method. I used Prestone power steering fluid as a replacement and over the years I have topped off with the same. Duh at me....I just realized that the recommended fluid is Dex III.....soooooo.....would it be safe to flush it AGAIN with Dex III ? Im at 250K now. Thanks in advance ! :D

I _believe_ that the manual for the Vibes is wrong - it's generally power steering fluid.

Really, a mechanic i trusted years ago said that there's not a lot of difference, and if you accidentally put one in the other, it usually does no harm at all.

Since it was when I called because a GF poured transmission fluid into the power steering bottle, and that Mazda 323 never had steering issues, I think it's reasonable.
