how many oxygen sensors does the 6 cyl engine have?

Post by gginnj »

I see the upstream one by the firewall, and the downstream under the floor board. I couldn't see any upstream however to the front of the car.
Does the vibe have a set for each manifold? or is there only 1 set after the exhaust combines?

Are you sure you have a Vibe?
With all those cylinders you should have no trouble selling it for a fist full of Dollars. ;)

All Vibes have 4 cylinder engines. Please provide the year and exact model.

never mind....DUH....

not sure why I was thinking the engine was a V configuration - hence looking for front and back oxygen sets.
Maybe I was just wishing it was a V6!! Been working on my Taurus too long.....

Yes, it's an inline 4 - so that would answer my question - it should only have 2 sensors, 1 upstream and 1 downstream.
it's the upstream one I'm after.

From what I've seen, the heat shield needs to come off first......project for next week!

Trick question? Answer is none. The Vibe does not come with a 6 cylinder. ;)

Anything after 2004 has an A/F sensor upstream, by the way. Downstream is always a normal O2, though. Just for reference for anyone who searches later.
