Okay so I bought a 2005 vibe base with 110,000, now has 112,000. No service records. I'm trying to work through basic maintenance as I assume nothing has been done by previous owner. Car has no problems as I can tell.
Coolant flush-
It's green. I know the Toyota pink is definitely preferred. If a thorough flush is performed is it safe to switch to Toyota red or equivalent? Or should I stick with generic green? I'm going to try and do this myself.
Transmission fluid drain-
Multiple drain and fills at 112,000 with no previous records? Or is it a good idea to drain, drop pan, pull the line and drain/top off 1 quart at a time until it runs clean?
Been scouring the forums and I'm just not sure on these two.
Also with the coolant flush, seems like people are saying to pull intake manifold and pull thermostat to get it all. might as well make a day of it and replace gasket, clean throttle body and IVAC + MAF.
I'm just piecing together all the maintenance advice and trying to put together a maintenance game plan and keep this thing on the road another 100k. At the same time there's nothing wrong with it and I don't want to jeopardize that.
