I've been busy lately picking through the 1.8l UOA's at BITOG, trying to find info/reports on extended drains using M1EP & Amsoil SSO. Unfortunately, BITOG's search function sucks the big one (and yes, I've done advanced searches using Google)...so either there isn't a lot of data concerning our engine and those oils or I just can't find it (I'm a savvy guy, but I also suffer from brainfarts from time-to-time).Anyway, has anyone here done extended drain intervals (8K+ miles) with M1EP or Amsoil SSO? If so, I'd love to read your comments & criticisms, as I'm soon going to go to a 1-year/10K mile OCI (probably w/M1EP).Cougar VibePS: I appreciate any feedback, but please spare me the 3k/3month spiel or similar. I'm well aware of some people's preference for such intervals, and that's fine; however, I'm a committed fan of extended drains.
While doing a 10000mi OCI do you (are you going to) test the oil at certain intervals between changes? Like at 3000mi intervals to see how the oil's holding up?And will the stock filter clog up with particles with that much distance?
No, I probably will not have a UOA done w/M1EP unless I decide to push it over 10K miles. I've run Pennzoil Platinum up to 8,500K miles in a '06 Corolla and had Blackstone test it; still had a TBN of 2.4 and very good wear numbers. As M1EP is considered an "extended drain" oil (at least the marketing hype states it is), and warrantied up to 15K miles, I figure 10K should easily be doable w/out testing. As for the filter, I'll go w/either an Amsoil or M1; I probably could use a PureOne though...it's the filter I used on my 8,500 OCI.
we are currently trying the extended drain formula from mobi 1 in the G6 it seems fine, it was on sale to tell you the truth thinking of draining it between 8-10 km insted of 6k
