03 gt rear mounted t3/t04e very fast !!!

Ok guys I finally got the rear mount turbo system done enough to post pics. I started out with 2.5 inch piping for the exhaust aswell as the intake piping. the lag was ubearable. but I got it dyno tuned at 254 hp at the wheels. the ebay turbo (cx racing) decided to blow its oil seal within 3 days lol . so I replaced it with a tubonetics 50 trim .63 ar t3/t4oe. the fuel system consists of a mwr fuel pump, 550cc injectors, and an aem fic. the tuner di a terrible job and only touched the fuel map , which caused me to have fuel trims of 19 percent !!! . I just retuned it myself using all the maps and it has trim of zero now !
im running 11.5 afr and will send the tune file to anyone looking to turbo there vibe if private messaged.
the smaller pipes (2 inch)and heat wrap made the turbo spool twice as fast , I now have 1-3psi at 3k and full boost by 5k

here is the dyno sheet from the original set up the pipes are much smaller now so it spools a lot faster, also the turbo has been swaped from a t3 cx racing ebay turbo to the current t3/t04e turbonetics , the only thing left to do is swap the turbine housing fromm a .63 to a .48 and a little more fine tunning of the maps

This, in tandem with my supercharger, would rule the world!!! Best of all worlds, I can keep the header, slightly modify the exhaust, and only have to modify the intake. Now, just to not be laid off...

I was just thinking what a rear-mount turbo would be like on a Vibe. Interesting setup. If you used a smaller turbo, would you get better spool times?

Not sure if snow would agree with this setup. But it seems a little easier... No need to mess around behind the engine. No need to go at the header. A little cooler, too. I'd need some guard and box to keep road debris and water away from everything, and possible winter beater if I did this.

Are you using a inter-cooler?

No Intercooler , the pipes are so long i dont need one it cools down on its way back to the front . my intake temps on a 75 degree day were 125 after a few runs . on a 50 degree day they are around 85
ill post dyno pics soon

OK, I'll bite, how much boost is full boost?
Are you regulating the boost to keep it under 10psi?

Also, are you doing something to keep water out of the filter on rainy days?

i have an internal wastegate set to 8psi so max boost is 8psi
i may put a shield around the filter but for now the filter is just right on the turbo, not realy much worse than a cold air intake in my opinion esp considering how high it sits , the cold air intake i had was in the fender well but sat at least a foot lower to the ground

Its going great the wot tunning is a breeze if you use the data logger . Part throttle tunning is a bit tougher . But its getting there . Im about to lower my boost and go back and retune in steps at diff boost levels ,that will make it easier to fill in the wholes. But the smaller pipes made a huge difference i have 1-3 psi by 3k and 8psi by 4500

Sad to hear it's gone. The Outback XT is a really good choice. More torque down low, and all wheel drive, but a little more weight.

what i really wanted was a forester xt but it was a straight trade and the legacy is worth alot more since it has 80k less miles and is newer
