I have the 1ZZ TRD supercharger. The idler pulley has a small dent in the surface and the coating, which is fairly thick, is coming off all the way around the outside of the pulley.See pics for reference:Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Is it safe to run in this condition? It seems to me like it would destroy the belt. Also, the bearing needs to be replaced, do you have to use a press to get the old bearing out and new bearing in?
You can run that as is but I'd buff all the paint off the surface where the belt rides and sand smooth the dent. Not sure on the bearing but you should be able to get it out using a hammer and small punch... although it would probably be easier just to order a new pulley and be done with it.
Maybe see how much a machine shop will charge to make you a new one. A replacement bearing of that size shouldn't cost more the $10 though if you just want to clean up and reuse the old pulley,
Here's the tricky part - I live in Germany and don't speak a bit of German. So, it makes dealing with the locals a bit difficult. I was hoping someone had found a company that still carries this idler pulley, or maybe a part number for it. The part I was originally looking for was the whole idler pulley assembly w/ bracket.
