Keyless Entry stopped working.

I've only got one fob. I thought the battery was dead so I changed the battery in the fob but it still will not lock / unlock the car.

It is a 2010.

I thought I had to re program it. I can get into programming mode but whenever I hit the lock or unlock button it will cycle the locks twice indicating it failed pairing. The good news is the car can see the fob so the system is working. I had the fob checked at autozone so it's emitting a signal. I'm at a loss at what is causing this.

Do you know for sure that that FOB was working on this car before? It is the proper frequency FOB for that vehicle? The double lock means the system programming failed, which can be cause by the system not seeing the FOB in the given amount of time.

I got the same results ( the double lock / unlock) but the new fob worked?!?!

I swapped the components from the new fob to the old fob.

The weird thing is the new fob flashes very rapidly, but the old fob blinks like every half a second. Maybe it's dying. I changed the battery again and I got nothing.

Check where the battery goes in. Alkalines are a bear for leaking and corroding things. If the original battery leaked around the edges (coin cells are even worse at this than larger cells, if you can believe it), it could have corroded and damaged the contact area for the battery in the new fob. That could cause reduced current.

Clean the contacts with alcohol and a q-tip. Also clean the rubber section (soap and water is fine, or even windex, as long as you rinse it), and the contacts for the rubber pads. They're carbon tipped to make the contact.
