DRL wiring question

Post by pwyu1969 »

Need some help here. I had to cut off my DRL as a quick fix for an issue* with electrical system. Based on various online videos and postings. Here is what I did, at the running light assembly unit, (1) I cut the yellow wire and grounded the assembly side. (2) I also cut the red/white wire, no grounding though. (The reasons why I cut both was a rookie mistake). Either way, my issue was solved. I’m curious, does anyone know what either the red/white wire or the yellow wire does? Wondering if I should reconnect either of the two wires.

*the issue was that after turning off the car and removing the key, the running lights, center dash lights, and door buzzer remained on indefinitely. I had to disconnect the black battery terminal for longer stops to prevent battery drain. Cutting off DRL fixed it.
