2009 base 1.8l

Post by dantes »

I have a weird question. I had a 2003 vibe back a while ago and I seem to remember when I hit the key to lock the doors the horn would honk like all of the cars do now. Well my vibe when I hit the key it will lock but no noise. am I dreaming or is something not hooked up?

nope, our Vibes do not have a locking alarm. It is the one thing I cannot forgive NUMMI for. How my car can be built right behind a Corolla yet not have a simple, no cost item added to the Vibe is unforgivable. As for the first gen, I had one too and I think you are remembering it wrong. I don't recall any locking alarm on my 2003 AWD.

I believe the ECU has an output for remote lock chirp, as the 2009+ Matrix has it via an external piezo buzzer, but there isn't anything connected to that pin on the Vibe. I have not tested this theory.
