Wire an LED lightbar to the hi-beams? 2005 base model

Post by Browning »

I have one of those LED lightbars you see on trucks and some cars that are incredible bright. Mine is a small one, 30watt, 7". I want to install this behind the little grille in the center of the bumper, just below the license plate(for those that live in states that require it.) Looking at the metal bumper there are already a few holes that I can use for mounting the light perfectly with a little work. the grille will block a small amount of the light but it should improve visibility quite a bit on these old backroads of Ohio at night.

How would I go about splicing this LED light into the Hi side of the headlights so when I switch to dims, it shuts down?

You'll need to use a relay because of the power the light bar will draw. I'd recommend a new circuit and switch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8GY69Ci7l4

This guy went the extra mile and set up a dual switch setup so he can switch the light bar with the highbeams or without. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2FUpy_-Yc8

Check out the reddit battlewagon group for info on adding lightbars, like https://www.reddit.com/r/battlewagon/co ... ll_output/
