Alpine 2/1 Channel Power Amplifier MRV-T503 500W

Post by Glenpointe »

I purchased the Alpine 2/1 Channel Power Amplifier MRV-T503 500W and MTX Audio subwoofer and wanted to install in my son's 2003 Pontiac Vibe, but have no idea how to do it. Do you know any instructions? Thanks,

What stereo does he have in the car now? Is it the M&T with the amp under the passenger seat?

As for install, do you mean wiring it up to power on? complete installation to working order?

The car came with the original radio. I just need to wire the power amp and the woofer and make it works. Never done this before so just wondering anyone posted any instructions on here. Thanks,

There's a ton of resources on how to wire an AMP all over the internet. Here probably isn't your best bet. Try a dedicated car audio forum. I will say this, the factory radio most likely has no subwoofer output so even if you install one, don't expect to be able to wire it into the radio easily.

As for wiring the amp with power, that's pretty easy. Buy a wiring kit from amazon, nothing with a higher number than 8 guage. (guage measures wire thickness, smaller number=bigger wire.)

You'll need to run a few wires inside the car. First will be power from the battery to the amp, make sure to buy a kit that has a nice fuse box and fuse installed.

Second will be the ground wire from the amp to a bare metal spot to ground the power.

Third will be a set of RCA cables with a remote wire that will go from the amp to the stereo.

Last will be the speaker wire that goes from the amp to your subwoofer.

Check out my garage post for some pics and ideas.

You'll likely need a power wire to turn on the amp. This wire goes from the amp to the radio. When the radio powers on, it sends a signal to the amp to turn on. I have the Alpine MRV-500w amp - similar amp to yours. I can check if you can't figure out which color wire to use.

Also - i have a alpine deck with harness and install kit im looking to get rid of for cheap if you're interested. Works perfect and is in nice condition.

The remote wire I mentioned and the power wire mentioned are the same thing. Usually an automotive amp wiring kit will include RCA cables that have the remote wire insulated and connected to them. Should look like this http://thumbs.ebaystatic.com/images/g/g ... s-l225.jpg
