Stereo Upgrade - Made EASY on yourself

Post by VibeInLA »

For those who wants to upgrade their stereo in one of the older model I can tell you that I just order this JVCKD-R960BTS through Crutchfield (http://www.crutchfield.com/p_105KDR960B ... 60BTS.html)
For my 2005 Pontiac Vibe.

They gave me all the stuff needed for the installation (except for dash trim panel tools and connectors) and free shipping

I had narrowed my search down to the JVC and the Kenwood KDC-158U

As I wanted something that had "the works" CD-player, AM/FM, Bluetooth, USB, Aux

I went with the JVC as it seemed like better value with more features, more iphone friendly (Kenwood seemed more targeted Android users)
and the Kenwood did not come with all the installation components for free

From what I've been told a pro can install it in 1.5-2 hours so with the extra $20 or so in tools and the time it will probably take me (2 hours +) I'm gonna take it to the Geek Squat at Best Buy and have them do it for the $65 they quoted me

Total: $119 + $65 for installation :)
