Phone Car Cradle

Post by tonyn1 »

I have a Sansung Fascinate smart phone which I love. I even have a GPS app for it, and though the graphics don't take advantage of the full screen size, it works just fine. I found a Samsung car cradle for it so I could use it as a GPS in my Vibe. So far so good except for one thing: I can find no where to mount this thing where it would position the phone in the most advantageous viewing position. There is hardly any space to mount anything on the dash, and places I've found that might work are not flat either. I've seen a mount that fits in a vent. I'm not sure how that would work as I don't know if it would block air flow and besides I don't think it would look too good. Anybody have this phone and found a way to mount it or have another phone that they mounted successfully?

I have the Samsung Fascinate and I use the Samsung car mount. I mounted it in the corner of the windshield.

Most of the air vent clips I have seen (the ones shaped like a bobby-pin) don't fit in our vents properly. Found this out through trial and error. My mounting place was going to be the vent just left of the center console. Still going to try to figure out how to mount there for my phone as it also has GPS and works better than my TomTom

I realize this is a couple weeks late but here is what I use; http://www.radioshack.com/prod...03345 I mount my radar detector, GPS, and XM radio with the stuff. It is similar to Velcro but much, much stronger. The mounting tape even sticks to the weird textured surface of the dash in the 09 -10s.It makes the devices easy to remove but holds securely in place until you want it removed.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/produ...eller=I have one of those coming, seems like it got reasonable reviews. The link might not take you to Amazon selling it, but a third party seller, looks like amazon directly sells it for $15, with free super saver shipping for orders over $25, tack on a rear wiper or maybe a cabin filter or two, to get the free shipping. Anyways, I hope the thing in the link that we bought works, my wife takes a 6 hour trip this weekend, and it would be nice for her to have the charging and mount all in one.
