Surprisingly I'm still on the stock "wimpy" battery and my Vibe is already over 4 years old. However, I'm not going to risk anything and will probably purchase a replacement before winter hits this year.Other than some slow cranking during the winter months, I haven't had a problem with it yet (knock on wood).
Still on the wimpy stock battery, car was built in July 2002. I'm in So Calif, and the car is garaged, so its cold starts are almost never below 50 degrees even in winter.

My stock battery is still working fine, despite me having depleted it. Twice! I guess I might want to consider getting a new battery before the cold winter sets in here in the NE.

Still rockin the stock since Dec 12, 2002 and almost 109k miles

Mine still checked out good after 2 years/ 60k miles, but I replaced it with a optima redtop ($99@ COSCO) anyway just so I won't be stranded somewhere inconvienent. I can always use a "garage" battery for stuff around the house. Already used the poor little pathetic thing to jump start the nieghbors car.

I just finally picked-up a 640 CCA Diehard at Sears today. Perfect fit/replacement. The true test awaits this winter. My 310 CCA has been retired after 4.5 yrs of use (surprisingly).
Still on stockwimpy (2½ years), but after having it die at the meet, I'm guessing it's time to upgrade. Probably won't go yellowtop though. (BTW, thanks to AlamoVibe to jump starting my car with his portable pack. Worked like a charm)
My stock battery has been donated to power the trolling motor on a friend's boat. It seems to work fine in there...for 2 hours. I guess I'll just keep charging it until it completely seizes up.
My dealer in Iowa automatically upgrades to cold weather batteries when he orders cars for people, so when I got the car it already had a little bit of a better battery. But 26,000 miles later it still works fine!
45 months and the OEM 320 CCA still ticking in Ohio.

When installing the power wire for my subs, I inadvertently turned the hot post inside the battery. So I just replaced the wimpy ACDelco 310cca battery with a Wal-Mart special. Everstart Maxx 35n (640 cca) for about $70.

still running the factory battery bought in march 03 car was built in feb 02 still running strong. left lights on over night still started. killed batery with tv/ps2, left off for bout 30 mins and started right up. don't know y its a wimpy battery lol
I keep losing the power to the subwoofer now. the lights goes on the amp but there is no base unless I crank it. If I don't crank it It's almost like I have to let the battery charge back up again before I turn the stereo back on. Now the little green light stays black all the time on the battery. I think once you add lots of "toys" the battery starts to die alot quicker.

Well yeah your having a massive pull of current to run it, since the alt can't handle it. It will pull the current out of the battery and after so much time the battery will run low and after enough times the battery won't recharge.
Now 48 months since purchase (battery really 51 months as as the car was built in Oct. 2002) and still going. At recent dealer "10 for $10" winter check-up they said they tested the battery and it was o.k.Wouldn't want to leave car outside at 0 degress as it cranks a little slow at 25 degress.

Like nick, i'm wondering if I should do a pre-emptive replacement this fallbought the car 12/30/02, today I replaced the OEM battery with an Exide 640 CCA model. There was nothing wrong with the factory one in my car, still worked just fine, but wanted to know I had a good one for the coming winter, and I had the cash todayso Too bad I can't change my vote from "still have the wimpy" to "replaced with better"
Quote, originally posted by kevera »I'm glad you got 25 years out of your battery. thanks for the heads up, I had typed 82 instead of 02. I edited it. 12/30/82 was a much more important day in my life than 12/30/02, so it slipped through
I have to replace it now. I have a 2003 with over 230,000kms but if I leave the radio on for about 15-20 minutes I barely have enough left to turn it over on a warm day. The new one will be 450CCA.
Well, I just had to replace mine last week. It was over 5 years old (May 2002) and I have close to 80k miles. Fortunately it died right when I got to my garage and not on a camping trip I had just gotten back from that day! They really can die with no signs of wearing out. The engine started up just fine earlier in the day but when I got to my garage and shut off the engine, even the stereo turned off. Luckily I got it all replaced that night.

I still have the original in my 03. It was weak in the Yukon but then it got down to -49°C (-56.2°F), I had a battery blanket on it to keep it warm. However it works great in Germany, however it does not freeze much here. lol
